AUB Relief Effort

Send money It can also be sent via the American University in Beirut's New York office. AUB is an educational institution incorporated in the US, so there is no question of the donations being anything but above-board.

The Lebanese mostly are angry with the US now, and many hate us, for unleashing Israel on them. At least we can do some penance.

500,000 displaced persons, and over a thousand wounded, is as big a humanitarian disaster as the Kashmir earthquake or some per-country effects of the last tsunami. Send a lot of money.

' The American University of Beirut is once again at the forefront of efforts to care for those who are suffering in Lebanon. We will do everything we can to take care of those who need our help. We have done it before. Our commitment to do so is just as strong today.

We are seeking your support for the newly created AUB Medical Emergency Fund so that we can continue relief efforts in the following two areas: medical supplies and volunteer relief.

You can make a secure online donation, https://give.aub.edu.lb.

You can issue a check payable to: American University of Beirut / Medical Emergency Fund American University of Beirut

You can issue a check payable to: American University of Beirut / Medical Emergency Fund American University of Beirut 3 Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10017-2303 USA

A lot of American lefties trying to help the people of Beirut continue to ask Bush to intervene, and that's the wrong approach - we should be telling Bush to stop intervening. If the U.S. would stop sending money, stop sending missiles and tanks and artillery and guns and other weaponry, and stop vetoing UN resolutions condemning Israel, the slaughter would have already stopped.

John Bolton doesn't quite know what to make of it:

"And I don't quite know what the argument about proportionate force means here. Is Israel entitled only to kidnap two Hezbollah operatives and fire a couple of rockets aimlessly into Lebanon? Source

Yes, unh huh, pretty much, a lot closer to that than this...

Boy have you hit the nail on the head!

Israel's war against The Middle East would have been over decades ago, ended with a settlement rather than prolonged and enlarged by "settlements", if the US had not continuously bankrolled the lunatic far-right and their pipe dreams.

They have fought a war of expropriation and degradation against the Palestinians for decades AT NO ECONOMIC COST TO THEMSELVES!

Do you think they will stop as long as you and I keep picking up the tab?

The Middle East Wars will be over in one New York minute when we stand up on our hind legs and say, as even George Bush himself said before he was "re-educated" as regards the lay of the land, enough is enough.

Far too much.

Thank you Dr. Cole for publishing an "Homeland Security approved" (though it's not, actually) relief source.

I wish there were also some sort of legal action which could be taken, such as an injunction against the Rumsfeldites prohibiting the use of US$ to fund war crimes.

Wow, our UN Ambassador almost understands what proportional force is. Where'd he get that ed-ju-mu-ka-shun? I love the feigned ignorance, it's so encouraging that our "leaders" are so learned and logical.
