More on Elliot Abrams' Censorship of Leverett

The Last Hurrah has imagined the content of Flynt Leverett's squashed opinion piece on Iran, based on his past pronouncements on the matter.

Thanks to Daily Kos for taking up the issue of the quashed Leverett memo/petition and my call for people to write their representatives and senators demanding that Elliot Abrams leave the National Security Council.

Steve Clemons points out that White House spokesman Tony Snow replied first that he knew nothing about the issue and then that the White House had not intervened. Clemons also gives a link to Flynt's remarks on Monday.

The Financial Times says that Flynt is not the only former official forbidden by the CIA/ White House from saying things already in the public record.

You are right on to demand Elliott Abrams leave the NSC. Why stop there though? Anyone with clear allegiances to a foreign power has got to go. It's not a matter of one guy, as gross as Abrams is. How about David Wurmser - and anyone else associated with PNAC and AIPAC? Or anyone who particpated at all in lying us into war? We all need a clean break. Pun intended.

How do we determine the "more important" cases of political violence? For the people killed, I would think they are all important.

Reuters may as well be trying to nail Jello to the wall, as reporting a small part of the daily body count. "Informed Comment" archives are going to look somewhat silly in ten years, by repeating the feeble attempts to quantify the anarchy.

Sibel Edmonds is the first name that pops into my head re: politically-motivated censorship.
