Hard of Hearing when it Comes to the Saudis

Iraqslogger discovers that the State Department suddenly can't hear very well when the Saudi foreign minister starts fulminating against 'foreign interference' and 'Occupation' in Iraq.

Plus: Jonathan Steele thinks it is good news that the petroleum bill has stalled out in the Iraqi parliament.

And, Cindy Sheehan is back.

Jonathon Steele reports news. He should be read often. As for the Iraq Oil Bill, I'd say its about 1.2 trillion USD by now. Paul Bremer's War (the part where former Baathists terrorize Iraqis) is proving too expensive for the US.

Dear Professor Cole

There must be a glitch in the system somewhere.

Doesn't this mean sanctions on the Saudis?

Tell Me What'd I SAY???
Please tell us what Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal actually said about Israel and about Lebanon. There must be a saudi/arabic transcript of his remarks.
We know Rice and Bush are deaf, but someone must have heard it.

As for the comments of Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal, it seems a lot more likely that the "foreign interference" he said the Iraqi gov't has a "great responsibility ... to stop" refers to Iran, not the United States. Read in context of other remarks al-Faisal made warning the Iraqi gov't to protect & represent all of Iraq's minorities, the idea that he would exhort the Iraqi government - in the presence of Rice & Gates - to resist US occupation makes even less sense.
