The simultaneous graphing of the public approval rating of G. W. Bush Jr. with John McCain's pro-Bush Jr. voting rate (i.e., the latter rises just as the former plummets) is one of the best uses of visual representation of statistical information I've ever seen.
If the Obama campaign doesn't seize this astoundingly well-thought out use of a simple graph, it will have missed a precious opportunity.
This ad is fantastic, especially when you realize that it was made by just one person, with just one voice ...
Hi All,
I am writing to ask if any of you would be willing to participate in a study that I am conducting as part of my PhD research. I am interested in examining the ways in which blog users participate in political discourse.
You can contribute to this study by participating in an email interview. The interview questions will ask you about how you argue with, persuade, challenge, or support each other politically; the ways in which you analyze, critique, or support candidates and their campaigns; the features/options you desire from political blogs; and the role that technologies such as blogs and websites play in civic processes, specifically a presidential election.
If you are interested in participating, please email me at dadasce@muohio.edu.
Thanks,
Caroline
What a spectacular ad. All right now, who's going to run it, so I know where to send money???
I don't know who thought up and produced this vid, but if it wasn't the Democrats, it puts to shame the entire Democratic party capability. How much money do they have in their campaign purse now??? How effective have they been with this largess contributed in 5's, 10's and 20's from people for whom this is not an easy gift? C'mon Dems. If you want to win the next election --if you don't want me to think you are all morons, quit acting like morons. No Republican President in history--say that again slowly--No Republican President in History has gifted so much self-damning ammunition to the Dem party. Keeping your powder dry?? There's so much in the warehouse it is hard to keep it from exploding on its own. So much that it is being pilfered and used against you. Like, you know, Iraq. No American President, Republican or Democrat, in this nation's history has broken more laws, acted so directly in opposition to the Constitution, sought more power for itself, while steadfastly working to limit or dismantle any Constitutional checks and balances on its own power that the founding fathers inserted in the Constitution to protect Americans from a leadership gone terminally haywire, knowing that some day it would be necessary to protect the nation from either a fool or a dictator (both in this case). And what have the Dems managed to do with this stack of dollar bills?? Take impeachment off the table. The Democractic leadership is running proof that there are fatal weaknesses in our form of government. We are a representative democracy. What do the people do if their elected representatives don't act? If they are inept? Deficient? Stupid? Cowardly? Unable to express, enact, or enforce the ideals of America contained in a written guide (Constitution) that was understood by most Americans over two hundred years ago. You know, those ancient, non-modern, under-informed, unwired people who drove horses to work and didn't even own a radio?
This video proves how a vote for MacCain is a vote for shooting yourself in the leg, or perhaps a little higher. It also shows that the Dems need to do a lot more than they are now if American democracy is to survive.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want the Dem leadship to quit. I want them to get moving. There is much to be done.
McCain is even scarier than Bush!
It's very nicely done but is probably over the head of most Americans. It's longer than a 10 second attention span and the graphic is probably too hard for most to decipher.
The vast majority of America has settled for mediocrity. The challenge for everyone else is to stay calm and not get angry. We have to live here too. If you need a good laugh read some poetry by August Kleinzahler.
