Economy in Free Fall, Politics of Personal Destruction
Graph of world markets in free fall.
Obama predicted the Republican smear strategy against him last July, in every detail. They will try to paint him as "risky." Reply: "It is too risky not to change."
Obama: "I can take 4 more weeks of McCain's Attacks But America Can't Take 4 More Years Of Failed McCain\Bush Look Alike Policies"
"Your employees tell me you're a die-hard Republican."
"That's true."
"I said, 'How's business?'"
Biden: These personal attacks on Obama are intended to get you to take your eye off what is happening. "In my neighborhood, if you've got something to say to a man, look him in the eye and say it to him."

The Republican party is playing a weird game: showing their candidate as anti-Republican!!!
Accoeding to Bush, McCain is "independent".
According to McCain, McCain is a "maverick", despite being an Establishment guy to the hilt.
According to Lieberman, McCain is bi-partisan (Likud-Republican?)
Not even the American public can be that gullible. Can they?
Not every detail. Not even Obama could have foreseen Palin.
"Not even the American public can be that gullible. Can they?" Wishful thinking, I fear. American voters will believe whatever is convenient to believe, much like voters the world over. I have looked into the eyes of American voters, and seen their soul... It does not fill me with hope.

McCain is not used to facing his enemy. He is more content to fly at 20,000 ft. dropping napalm. Except when he is crashing and burning. This makes six times now. (Seven if you count the carrier 'accident.')
Campaign-2008 for Republicans
See John.
See the plain.
See John Fly.
See John crash.
See John burn.
Two more thoughts:
A maverick is a stray cow that gets separated from the herd where it becomes susceptible to being preyed upon by wolves and other predators.
Sarah Palin now has some serious competition from Roseann Cash (see her essay at www.thenation.com).
The Republican campaign strategy now involves sending their candidates to areas where everybody is a die-hard McCain
supporter already. Then they yell about Obama until the crowd is so frenzied people start making threats. The rest of the country
is supposed to watch and conclude that this would be an enjoyable way to spend the next four years.
I miss the old guy-guy McCain
who had so many male pals around he looked like a walking fraternity reunion. Now, he’s starting to resemble an ambulatory
patient accompanied by female attendants on an outing.
thank you Gail Collins
