“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated, and scorned.
When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”
Mark Twain”
Thanks Juan for the Twain. Nevertheless, moral courage has proven far more instrumental in change politics. One domestic example: the civil rights movement and MLK. I cannot think of any examples in the US foreign policy, recently or otherwise. Can you Juan? Alas, Twain also wrote another truth: “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it sure rhymes.” I do not know if he had access to Omar Khayaam, but they would have liked each other.
Limbaugh’s remarks which he magnified with his demand for video, was called nothing more than “absurd” by Santorum who attempts to portray himself as a religious and spiritual man, one we might presume to be in possession of a keen sense of right and wrong and moral courage to go with it. Romney has remained silent and it appears that Gingrich has as well. So much for moral courage.
Perhaps now the Republican National Committee will finally realize what many of us hoping for a GOP candidate of stature, came to terms with weeks ago, namely that none of the current candidates are by temperment, intellect or character, fit to be president.
Actually. I think Ron Paul has all those characteristics and is worth a closer look.
The link is a to a very good exploration of why he should be considered by progressives

So far as I am concerned, a member of the John Birch Society, present or former, has no place in government.
