What was gained by the US invasion of Iraq?
From the point of view of US hawks/oil men, a challenger to US & Israeli hegemony has had its legs broken and has been set to internal struggles, perhaps for decades, even as potentially 2 or 3 million barrels a day is added to world petroleum supplies over a decade, keeping it less expensive than it otherwise would be and so slowing the adoption of renewables.
