  • Saudi Arabia forces Women to Cancel Driving Protest, Asserts Authoritarianism in Region

When you suppressing 50% of your citizens, you are making your country 50% inefficient. The Saudi Kingdom is the last throwback reactionary monarch we need to get rid of. Although religion and equal right are incompatible(MY OPINION), NOT ALLOWING WOMAN TO DRIVE IS GONE TOO FAR.

I am amazed how thoughtful and thorough this article is. Juan, you are so dedicated; therefore, I would like to appreciate you for it.

"Good journalism is measured by how deeply, accurately, and objectively one covers a story or event"
I believe he said that much at the opening of his hour long speech when he described a journalist who refused to proscribe the Generals narrative whom he thought is an exemplar journalist should be.

Hawkings may have done a lot for science, he also showed he could contribute to the eventual demise of apartheid in the land of Palestine. Kudos! Stephen.

  • Saudi Arabian Women, Unveiled (VICE video)
    • Agree. I would suggest to any one who say there is a change in Saudi Arabia to look deeper in that society. The regime and its luckies treat women and immigrants wosrse than dirt. Women's treatment is worse than any nation.

For me the choice is simple. you shouldn't aid and abate Islamic government to come to power. i am not talking about the extremist type such as Jabahaat Al Nusraa only, but any Islamic government profess to be peaceful or violent. you have to leave the fight to the waring factions to sort it out and deal with the outcome rather than force the outcome one way or another. America is not seen in a good light in Middle-East at all therefore it will strengthen the idea America is up to no good.

  • Venezuela and the Middle East after Chavez
    • America is Imperialist. It supported and continues to support dictators and despots around the world. Chavez help to stager the US in Latin America by allying himself with the likes of Morales and Ortega and other leaders in the region giving confidence to the mass there is an alternative. Libya, Syria and Iran is a side show to call attention to the fact the US is upto no good in its agenda.

  • Let's also Remember the 176 children Killed by US Drones
    • Abubeker Osman 12/16/2012 at 7:43 pm

PANJWAI, Afghanistan — Stalking from home to home, a United States Army sergeant methodically killed at least 16 civilians, 9 of them children, in a rural stretch of southern Afghanistan early on Sunday, igniting fears of a new wave of anti-American hostility, Afghan and American officials said.

The story above seems much closer than the drone attacks which sometimes take children's life among others.

      Thanks Juan.

  • Top Ten Reasons the 'Obama lost Egypt' Meme won't Work for Romney
    • Juan, you know this very well, then why do you put stake on what American people feel about foreign policy? If Romney gets elected and subsequently bomb Iran, Americans will be behind him, not only that his popularity will soar! Sorry Juan I don't get why you trust the flip flopping public opinion when you know better.

    • We did it to ourselves! I feel pain for my two kids and kids are now being born. We eat beef a lot, throw stuff for newer stuff, we even watch NASCAR burning and emitting CO2 in the process. The 900lb. Gorilla we haven't talked about is population growth, it is unpleased subject, nevertheless it has to be tackled if there is any hope. The Hollywood movies related to climate change will one day come to pass. We will surely be forced to do something about it after it is too late, every thing we are to achieve such as wind or solar energy a drop in the bucket therefore will not stop but delayes the extinction by few years. We are sad people, we showed our callusness and denying we are callus. Sorry.

  • Karzai: Afghanistan would Side With Pakistan in War with US
    • Mental problem? Let us say the same thing about almost any leader whose country besieged by two fanatics: one being US led invading force the other religious zealot -namely Taliban/Haqani led movement. Some times puppets react to make themselves independent, but the main reason I believe why he is thrown conflicting statement is because he knows the US is leaving.

  • 64 Dead, 274 Wounded in Iraq War on Police
    • It could simply be a vengeance, or to see what the stirring of the latest violence will bring about; but, I don’t believe the perpetrators are thought through it or calculated the benefit to the groups’ agenda. Who would have thought the aftermath of the elimination of Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Abu Ayyub al-Masri would be insignificant to the point where the violent appeared to be spreading? Kurds are aspiring separatists, Sunnis are defeated but not forgotten the elimination of their population from Baghdad, and it is hard to believe the violence will not return. No one had predicted what took place from 2003 to 2008 would have taken place the way it has; at the end, all the US aim has failed in every way leaving the decision to Iraqis particularly to the Shiites. I am sure Obama is nervous now, if the violence increases or even persists, he would be presided in two failed wars by the time he is running for the second term... Long way from that perhaps. I hope Juan is correct when he said,
“But remember that although these bombings took a lot of lives and maimed a lot of people, they could have been carried out by a relatively small group of people, perhaps as few as 100. In addition, it is not clear what practical gain they could have realized from these attacks. Is anyone really not going to join the police because of a few bombings? Are the police really going to respond by giving the insurgents greater leeway to operate? Would the public really be intimidated? Can the bombings change the government or provoke a coup or revolution? No, no, no and no. Rather, the guerrillas are just making themselves even more hated and are provoking the army and police to improve their counter-terrorism capabilities.”

  • Stewart: Fox Smears Owner Alwaleed bin Talal!
    • The major news networks including CNN were not helpful deciphering facts from fiction. Fox News may be a propaganda outlet; so is CNN, ABC News... when since 9/11/2001 did nothing to tell what is going on in Iraq, Afghanistan or how Muslims were targeted unfairly. If you focus on the "terror Mosque" alone you don't get the whole picture. I feel sorry for people who are trying to catch one news and trying to understand the whole picture. Thanks to many independent informative media we are not all ignorant. Democracy Now!, Bill Moyer, and many investigative journalists have been filling the gap where every "news networks" wouldn't want to fill.
