I was about 7 years old when the war ended and the allies liberated the concentration camps. I vividly remember the living skeletons and the dead ones the newsreels showed. The experience changed my way of looking at the world. I'm not Jewish, but I understand to the extent anyone who has not been through it can understand the determination not to let it happen again. However, I can't help but think that Israel is headed down a path that isolates them to such an extent that is self destructive. They seem determined to go it alone and prefer to label anyone who disagrees as antisemitic rather than consider the alternatives. I don't see a lot of hope for them.
So what were Friedman, netanyahu and the neocons thinking when they decided that getting rid of Saddam was a good idea. Did they not understand that the inevitable "democratic" Shiite government would be allied with Iran. That getting rid of Saddam would mean wider hegemony for Iran?
Perhaps their support for Daesh means they've realized what was really at stake for them in their rash rush to war. But why should any sane person listen to advice from these people? I feel like the US has been a puppet pulled along by people who either don't have a clue, or who just enjoy pulling the strings.
"Plus the republican party depends on its Christian fundamentalist who believe that Israel must be supported and preserved for the battle of Armageddon."
"I have long wondered why Western leaders pay so much attention to Netanyahu, the leader of a small country of 7.5 million with a gross domestic product only a little bigger than that of Portugal."
In the U.S. it's because of money and support from American Jews. AIPAC will do its best to defeat any American presidential candidate who doesn't toe their line. Won't the measures putin has taken also further degrade russia's economy?
The whole world outside the US is wise enough to know this man is a charlatan.
@ Bill Bodden, Harvard might have reason to be concerned about its law school credentials.

Cotton will be one of the gop candidates for president in 2020, replacing Cruz I'd wager. That's what he's gearing up for now.
"Herzog indicated that he would not help the PM “dig out of the hole he has dug for himself.”
I hope netanyahu takes the USHerzog indicated that he would not help the PM “dig out of the hole he has dug for himself.”
I hope Netanyahu take his supporters in the US congress down with him.
Where are the Arab states? Why aren't they contributing?

Or some such thing.
