There is also a symbiotic relationship between trump and the press. No other president has been such a non-president. Most of his actions should be covered by Access Hollywood, not the mainstream media, but he's POTUS. There used to be a distinct line between industry, celebrity, and our statesmen--only dubya pushed the limits but knew what the role was and tried to play it. Now everything is blurred, news is tabloid, and trump feeds his sociopathic ego, and the press gets ratings by perpetuating this circus.
I agree with every point. I think that the biggest crime is when elected politicians won't admit that they were wrong. That the scientists are right and the warming planet is causing changes in our world, and many of the changes will not be good for our current way of thinking or living. Their divisive denialism was one thing, but to ignore reality that is looking you straight in the face is unconscionable.
Wow. This is scary because it is so well written and from such a good perspective. We always use the Nazi model for descent into totalitarian state, but it is probably easier than we realize as Spain and Italy also became fascist and the Soviet Union was very oppressive as well. Right now we have watched the Philippines fall and Chechnya become more brutal, and nothing is inconceivable here as well.
It is up to the people. It shocks me that anyone supports trump, but some do, and until the right voters turn, congress won't have a reason to go against him and fascism flourishes. If they do, congress might protect us.
Bush was similar in treating the press like lapdogs, but I agree, this is dictatorship plain and simple. Reminds me of 80s Central America. Thanks for breaking it down.
Well written. One thing that stands out is how, during the campaign the enemies of the Reich were labeled "libs" and "snowflakes", tapping into the anger of the right. After the election they already have labels ready, and "liberal" is not at all an ideological identity but a stamp for anyone not in lock step. While the don talks nice to some toady on TV his jack-booted thugs will make sure he is in control.
This may seem outlandish, but nothing is normal in Syria: what if the strike was a slap in Putin/Assad's face and the blunder was that it helped daesh? Perhaps they thought it would help rebels? Crazy but not the craziest.
Wow. I never learned her military contributions. Reading this, one thing strikes me. In the context of racial backlash from the right, I reflect on how the heroism and risks she took were to defeat the Southern Americans who are now putting up Confederate battle flags. It's as if she was fighting a foreign force, but they are us, and the descendants of which are among us and still defending it.
There's also some question about Saudi Arabia's remaining reserves. This could be a sign they're cutting water and running out. They've not been very forthcoming about their remaining reserves and no one will push them for fear of setting off a shock in the market.
Thanks. Very informative. And wasn't Malaki's killing of Sunnis with barrel bombs and such also a factor? The brutal Shiite totalitarian regime pretty much guaranteed that the Sunnis in the Iraqi forces in the west would join ISIL.

We also need to consider the waste stream created by, and resources needed to produce PV panels when assuming this is a green victory.
