John, if it's in your town, and it's a one off, then it's weather. If it global, then it's climate. YOu can have weather that is not in conformity with climate change, but the overall global pattern is what matters. If you have a history of earth citation to show, please do. I'm willing to see from where you get your ideas.
Too many people in this world --and most of them want to be with "their own kind." It's a natural instinct. Messes up the political program, though.
One reason adult immigrants might have trouble learning english is that the older we get the less flexible our brains and for some, especially those with less developed language learning portions of the brain, it's a major, and often useless, effort to learn a new language. We've all seen kids who naturally take to learning how to work a tablet, but older folks have trouble doing that same thing.
Subtleties are beyond the comprehension of some....and often, I fear, deliberately so.
I looked at a list of countries whose citizens were involved in the this and the US and Israel were notably missing from the list. Apparently, both nations are completely populated by Boy Scouts and total idiots (for not taking advantage of the opportunities). Really????
Plenty to think about in the essay and in the comments.
Not that I haven't considered much of this before.
From being buzz-bombed by the Nazis to thinking about being bombed by a US spawned military. My immigrant parents would be horrified to see this. The more things change, the more ....... ...............
The Right Wing has its way, they'll introduce flogging for unbelief in the USA.
Fear of retribution cuts into commenting, no doubt.
Sick and sad world we live in.
Look up Doug Coe, Abram Vereide, New Order of Cincinnatus, Smith-Connally Act, Sen Tom Coburn, Sen Jim Inhofe,S end Jim DeMint, Sam Brownback, Chuck Grassley, C Street, God's Chosen, This power grab in the name of christianity has been going on a very long time--since the 1930s. These people have a very long view of managing a political takeover. The Chinese also are very patient people and take the long view., unlike the majority of americans who hardly remember the most recent outrage from the "Right"
Any two Walton heirs could finance the rebuilding of those three cities you mention, and have money left over. How many multi-billionaires are there who on paper are residents of the US, while their cash is overseas. Maybe they all can take on the financing of rebuilding a city apiece?
Heaven knows, most of the American people I know have contributed to the fortunes of the fortunate--albeit unwillingly or unknowingly--and have nothing left to send overseas. Perhaps it's time for those who profit in the extreme to pay back the rest of us by helping rebuild what our political/Pentagon classes have destroyed. Lest, eventually, we fight them on our own land.........
One more reason I feel good about choosing the secular way. These people will send even their own children to the stake for burning. Just as soon as they get enough congressmen to vote in favor of another Inquisition to root out those who don't toe their line. Coming soon......
Trump is playing the magician.
My take:
He rouses the crowd by attacking the people whom the hoi polloi resent b/c they think the people he attacks are responsible for their sad economic condition and what they see as the moral degeneracy of the country. They urge him on in his role as attack dog against Hilary Clinton and all democrats.
When he gets through no one is supposed to see through his smoke and mirrors to vote for her or any other dem/socialist candidate.
The Rs put up a Cruz or Rubio, each of which has been quietly campaigning in "reasonable" mode, setting themselves up as responsible politicians--to whom his current supporters are supposed to turn at the polls.
R's operatives don't care which of the campaigning Rs is chosen in the end, because all are firmly in the pockets of the people pulling the economic strings.
Trump will drop out at the moment chosen by the R Party, possibly claiming ill health. (I might be banned for suggesting possible alternate ways of eliminating him as a candidate). He will instruct the crowds as to whom is the "best" candidate to carry "their" standard into the election.
Hilary is beaten before voting starts, the R choice has all those clamoring crowds in support, Bernie will be forced into some sort of "come-to-Jesus-meeting"with the powerful money men , and the R candidate will end up Prez.
No one looks behind the curtain to see what Trump is up to. But he wields power of the masses b/c there are those who see him as useful. He is used --and prolly paid well for his work, in goods, services, or other benefits---and then steps aside when his magic show is over. The magician who pulls rabbits out of hats, as in, votes away from Dem and Socialist alike.
You just now figured that out, Bill? I know some dedicated Christians who would do the Christ-like thing in any situation, but when it comes to politics, there are too many of the other kind for my comfort. Hypocrisy knows no boundaries.
Jason,
Any even tiny thing that rubs them the wrong way is okay in this adult conversation, IMO. John Kerry and I agree. Don't give the criminal thugs an inch. Your correspondent is entitled to his own opinion, agreed?
Republican America sanity? Gotta think about that a bit.I'm more inclined to think that RAs will say that the French are stupid to take in even one refugee. Just check out the responses of half the american state governors. I despair of sanity in the USA.
I heard that the weapons came from suppliers created during the balkan wars. One war leads to another and the law of unintended consequences never fails
Billy, I would expect young people whose lives have been turned upside down --and who have watched their people run through the mill just getting safely to european countries -- might have a lot of anger. If these same young people were approached by our own recruiters, we just might get your syrian army faster than expected. Or maybe I just wish on stars.....
OTOH, perhaps he arrived in Europe and then was recruited? I hear that anger is the driving force for these young people--although BBC says Daesh is now propagandizing school kids as young as four, so anger won't continue as the main force. And some young person who has endured what migrants have to endure might just be angry enough to easily be recruited.
Any chance you have sent this excellent article to all the governors, congress critters, and self-elected presidential candidates?
This is my first encounter with your blog and I can tell you tinbox has it right--this post makes this blog worth reading--and recommending. Thank you for putting it all out there so succinctly and plainly.

Never thought I'd see the day in America. Exceptional country? I don't think so. It makes me so sad.

Stephanie said it for me.
Too slow to edit...I add that at least, as far as I know, the Waltons do live in this this country that made their fortunes possible.
Any two Walton heirs could finance the rebuilding of those three cities you mention, and have money left over. How many multi-billionaires are there who on paper are residents of the US, while their cash is overseas. Maybe they all can take on the financing of rebuilding a city apiece?

The only fear, is fear itself. America frightened, is America defeated.
Bet there are no mental hospitals in Saudi Arabia. They could use a few for the people who take God's power and use it for their own twisted ends.

Am late to this party, but better late than.......
