I have long worried about the American media's portrayal of Muslims and Arabs.
Since the 1970's it has been OK to use stereotypes for Arabs that if they portrayed Blacks, Hispanics or any other other groups in similar fashion they would have been shut down ASAP.
But it was fine with Muslims.
This hatred we are seeing today has been worked at for some time now.
I have often wondered why Netenyahu is more worried about Iran, which is hundreds if not thousands of miles away, yet seems completely unconcerned about ISIS.
Personally, I would be far more worried about having those lunatics on my border than Iran or Hezbollah.
As an American I am so sorry that my country invaded and occupied Iraq with NO consideration of the consequences.
We marched against the war, but that was an exercise in futility.
I wish we could have done something (wish we could still do something) about the criminals who instigated that war and the subsequent dismantlement of Iraq.
Iraqis are paying for the sins of America. And Americans are simply clueless.
i have also been disappointed by the lack of reporting on the success of the Kurds in the north.
I understand why it is in the interests of the Republican fools, I mean Presidential candidates to downplay successes in the fight against ISIS. But why don't the broadcast media have reporters stationed permanently in Erbil?
Oh right, that would cost money.
And it is so much easier and cheaper to simply regurgitate nonsense from the Trump and the other fools.
Anyone want to bet that Germany, who has been accepting refugees will have greater economic growth in the future than any of the European countries that are banning refugees?
America needs to confront its profoundly racist past. So we can prevent the same ignorance and lunacy today and in our future.
I have long felt that the Caliphate and the other fundamentalists backed sects are bound to fail because they are up against the most powerful political force in the modern world:
Nationalism.
Modern history has shown nationalism to trump every ideology/religion out there.
Now, perhaps what we are seeing with ISIS is the expression of Sunni Nationalism.
But I seriously doubt it. While the fundamentalist sects might have the power in the short run, I believe they are bound to fail when national interests trump religious ideology.

More evidence, as if any were needed, that religion has no place in governance or politics.
Political correctness is simply doing what used to be known as politeness.

I agree
When did ignorance become a prerequisite for Republican Presidential candidates?
They revel in it.
The price of oil is currently low because the Saudi's are overproducing in order to wreck the oil/alternatives market.
They will reduce production as soon as they are assured that the alternatives are no longer economical.
I don't believe the oil glut will last for very long.
Just as i didn't believe that nonsense about Peak Oil a few years ago when the price was spiking.
(Where are all those Peak Oil trolls anyhow? Back at their regular oil company PR jobs?
Contrast this story with all the hoopla surrounding the toxic mine spill on the Animas River in SW Colorado.
In that instance the river turned bright orange. Since it was so photogenic the mass media showed up.
Yet no children were harmed. No damage to water systems. No fish were even killed.
In Flint we have a legitimate catastrophe with thousands poisoned resulting in very possible lifetime problems. If not death.
Yet very little media coverage.
Disgraceful
I think far too many people are buying the Big Lie propagated by the NRA.
No Supreme Court (before now) ever thought the 2nd Amendment applied to individuals.
The 2nd Amendment was written to protect Americans from the Greatest Threat To Liberty.
A Standing Army.

This is such an embarrassment.
I am proud to be an American. But this just makes me sick.
It is absolutely embarrassing to be an American these days.
What has happened to this country? Has there always been this many ignorant people in the USA?
It is not only embarrassing to be an American these days.
It is scary.
No doubt those fools making the threats are armed to their teeth.
I have a couple questions I would love to ask The Donald . . . and the rest of the Republican field for that matter.
Mr. Trump: Could you explain the difference between Sunni and Shia Muslims?
How about Suffi and Salafi?
Considering the fact that all the recent terrorist attacks have been carried out by Salafi's would your ban extend to Shia Muslims as well?
And why would that be, considering Shia Muslims have been the victims of far more attacks and killings than any westerners?
I seriously doubt Trump knows the first thing about Islam.
Be safe
Exactly

I assume that ISIS is over extended and their lines of communication must be very fragile. In other words they should be open to assault.
I would also think that air power in the desert could be an overwhelming advantage if the Iraqi government can get its act together.
