Was thinking the same thing. Also, can solidarity rooted in dialogue or ideology compete with solidarity rooted in economic or military organization? Its one thing to pour out into the streets united by nothing other than a common cause--Tahrir Square, OWS, etc.--and an entire other thing to organize resilient groups able to stand fast when real power retaliates.
