Clerical Lies on Stoning in Iran
Last year, on Junne 22nd, Hojjatoleslam Ali Shahroukhi, Head of the Majlis Judicial and Legal Commission stated that stoning as a punishment had been abolished from Iran's penal code. The claim appeared on the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), here: http://www.irna.ir/En/View/FullStory/?NewsId=557912&idLanguage=3
But as you can see the above link was removed yesterday after the head of the Islamic Republic Judicial Commission on Human Rights, Mohamad Javad Larijani, stated that stoning still remained part of the country's constitution and penal code.
The IRNA link from last year is still cached in Google however and can still be viewed if the cached link is clicked. Below is the full text as it appeared until yesterday:
'Majlis abolish law on stoning
Tehran, June 22,IRNA – Head of Mahlis[sic] Judicial and Legal Commission Hojatoleslam Ali Shahroukhi said on Monday that the law on stoning punishment has been abolished.
The amendment to the law was made in line with the expediency of the Islamic system, he said.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he said since Islam has set very tough conditions for proving crimes subject to stoning sentence, the member of Majlis judicial and legal commission decided to omit it from the Islamic penal law.'
The Golden Rule: Never ever believe what the Islamic Republic officials say.

This time of year, every year, I remember. On the evening of July 8, 1999, I slept in the dormitories of Tehran University when it was attacked. We woke to the sounds of the Basiji as they screamed at us in the name of a god who was merciless. They beat us to a pulp. The sounds of that night have never faded from my memory. Students were battered, their bones literally broken like branches pulled from a tree. There were shots fired and the sound of breaking glass filled the night air. Students screamed in disbelief and horror as their sense of security was forever shaken.
Mr. Amir Javadifar, 24, was a song writer and a technology management student at the Azad University of Qazvin. He liked acting and was an acting student at the Karnameh Institute. He participated and voted in the 2009 election at the urging of people close to him.

HRANA - Majid Tavakoli, imprisoned Amirkabir University (AUT) student writes a letter on the occasion of the anniversary of attacks on the student dormitories that took place on July 9, 1999 (18 Tir). According to HRANA, the full content of the letter is as follows:
My Bitter Memories

The 11th anniversary of the July 9th attacks on the student dormitories is upon us and yet our pain remains unhealed. On the eve of this 11th anniversary our candles continue to burn for an era when our freedom was sacrificed in a conspiracy that included serial murders and the banning of all newspapers. As always, students were at the forefront of this struggle against authoritarianism, but alas, the crimes that occurred at the university dormitories only speak of unprecedented atrocities. The IRGC has also been involved in selling pre-Islami artifacts from historical site without ever getting the approval of the government to European dealers.
The fact that all major cities were flooded with security and basij forces has everything to do with people not showing up. Of course they are afraid; unarmed and defenseless against an army of anti-nationalist thugs........who........ support he regime because they are subsidized by the regime....and will kill you without mercy......
I suggest that regime supporters enjoy their time.....as....What goes up must come down! I am thinking......... paybacks are hell!

Golden Gate Goes Green
People gathered in San Francisco's Chrissy Field Saturday and marched past people hiking and biking along the beach and then up a hill overlooking Golden Gate Bridge. They carried a 2000 meter scroll which had been signed by Iranians in many countries. When the march ended, a group of people held up the pictures of people who had been killed in the protests while wearing shirts with the names of each person and how and when they died. http://www.iranian.com/main/albums/golden-gate-goes-green

Students chant slogans against regime, fraud elections
AFP: Iran's opposition issued fresh calls for freedom on Saturday as the anniversary of a presidential election that sparked deadly street unrest passed off without major anti-government protests. Demonstrators stayed away after opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi cancelled plans for new rallies against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad because of safety concerns. But the authorities still deployed thousands of security personnel in Tehran to quell any dissent, with police and the feared Islamic Basij militia out in force, especially around Tehran University and Sharif University >>>
