When you look at the maps of what remains of Palestine, it looks like a 2 state solution is no longer viable. The best or least bad scenario looks to be a binational state
I personally don't agree with the A&F decision, and I'm a liberal. A&F is clearly going for a certain look and they should be able to not hire a person who will not "fit" that look .Just like you probably won't hire a size 0 model if you're in the business of plus-size clothing, or to make another analogy if I'm a restaurant owner who serves food that is not halal/kosher then perhaps an Orthodox Jew/Muslim should seek work elsewhere.
Totally with you on the selection bias. I don't see these religious fanatics protesting against Red Lobster or the Gap; after all shell fish and mixing different fabrics are also forbidden in the same Leviticus they use to justify their anti-gay bigotry. Not to mention that per the same book you're not supposed to shave your face as well; so seems Huckabee is also en route to hell himself.
I'm from Canada where we've legazlied same-sex marriage for years now, and there were no earthquakes, great floods or any other catastrophe. Huckabee and his ilk just want a Christian version of Sharia state; a Christian theocracy. Thankfully they're a dying generation; yet another "culture war" the Christian Right has lost. There's not enough old, white, conservative men left to win them elections by just playing to the base. Fighting a losing battle on social issues is political suicide.
Can you clarify how Juan is a neo-liberal? "Had you bet me on voter turnout, you’d have lost–big time". How exactly do you know what he would have bet? Do you have some sort of prescience? Besides, how is any of this "sour grapes"?
I live in Richmond Hill, a suburb of Toronto with a population of roughly 183K. So, essentially the number of US deaths caused by tobacco are 242% times the population of RH every year! Living in Toronto I wont know much about everyday life in the US. So I had a question. Are tobacco companies allowed to advertise their products on TV, Magazines....? If so, do you think banning TV ads, given that TV is still the most popular medium, would help in reducing smoking?
RE: ALEC you wrote "Maybe you should go back to Mexico and hang out with the communists, wait the drug cartels, wait the libertarians there". You've got no better retort than YouTube-esque straw-men and personal attacks? Don't know why Juan even approved your post, given that it didn't really add anything to the discussion. Then again, maybe the best way to combat absurdities is by exposing them.
Because context is crucial. If I refer to someone as gay merely in the context of discussing their sexual orientation or legal rights is VERY DIFFERENT than when it is used as an ad hominem, trying to discredit a person's ideas by appealing to ingrained prejudices.
The answer to the question seems to be a loud and resounding NO; at least that's the way it is so long as the NRA and Republicans don't care about people
The host said one thing that always boggles my mind, that Jim just wanted attention. Well, if that's true, and if you oppose him, why are YOU giving him any attention? These guys must be missing an irony gene
Republicans are the perfect Orwellian creature. Doublespeak and Doublethink is second nature to them. To them, the more the government tries to run your personal life the "smaller" it is.
Do you think that now that he's in his second term, and so wont have to worry about re-election, that Obama could take a more stern stance on Israel even if it means raising the ire of the Israeli government, Republicans and the general public?
By the way, are there limits to the number of comments per article? Because I tried to leave a comment on another one when it already had 28 and there was no comment box.
As a Canadian living in Toronto, I'm frankly bemused by these sort of over-the-top reactions, frankly paranoia, form the Right. I get that they love the 2nd amendment, but how do they convince themselves of the necessity/option of the presence of military grade weapons in civilian hands?
"here is also a growing problem of families aborting daughters once the sex of the embryo is known via ultrasound." This is one of the most mind-bending practices. Where on earth do the families think they came from when they abort their girl embryos? Continuing like this to create essentially a uni-sex society is simply a drive towards extinction. Don't these people even think about these issues?
Looking at all the deception going on, I think people will be well-advised to read both Manufacturing Consent and 1984. People will also have to look for information beyond American electronic media where they simply say A said X and B said Y, so we are objective. They pretend as if it's enough to simply give voice to 2 opinions without challenging either as to their veracity. I live in Toronto and we have a program called The Agenda With Steve Paikin on TVO (TV Ontario) that deals with current-affairs. If you want, you can look up their videos on YouTube. They go into much more detail than the American media, even about US issues. Here is a link to their discussion about a US military strike on Iran:
I don't think a draft will be instituted because I don't think that the US has the stomach for another war after a decade of pointless casualties and trillions wasted in Afghanistan and Iraq. Besides, Iran is too big and the centrifuges too dispersed. Also, any military action will not stop Iran from acquiring nukes; it will simply delay it. Ultimately, the US has to learn to live with a nuclear Iran. The only solution would be to impose a Nuclear Weapons Free Zone on the entire MidEast including Israel. Don't think that will happen though.

Such an easy question. Just say "I'd make sure his parents don't meet".

I was thinking if you might write on the bill that's about to be passed in Canada criminalizing criticism of the Israeli government as hate speech
Will there be a video of the interview, say on YouTube?
Can you at least maintain some proper decorum? "What is the difference between you and the teabaggers"
I don't think that an academic like Juan fits the bill for being a "tea bagger", a group who REVEL in their ignorance and oppose "elites".
Can you clarify how Juan is a neo-liberal? "Had you bet me on voter turnout, you’d have lost–big time". How exactly do you know what he would have bet? Do you have some sort of prescience? Besides, how is any of this "sour grapes"?

"Birth Prevention"? Would you care to clarify, cause without context that sounds like a brave new world.
How can anyone take this clown seriously? He rivals Alex Jones in imagining conspiracies.

I'm Iranian myself, my family came to Toronto when I was 12. She is really talented. As you say, wish this kind of image was broadcast more often

My link didn't work for some reason. So I'll try reposting. If again this didn't work just type: Iran: A Path to War?

Compare this with any US media coverage.
But can anything be done when people like the Koch brothers can dump heaven-knows-how many-dollars in to political campaigns and buy policies?
