BTW, Al-Arabiya is reporting (according to Le Monde Diplomatique) that Habib Al-Adly is suspected of the staging the bomb blast of the Coptic church in Alexandria.
CNN commentators on the desk (not reporters such as Anderson Cooper, who was beaten up by Mubarak's thugs) could not pronounce the word, "goon". Instead we got the space cadets jabbering about "gee, why is Egyptian fighting Egyptian? Can't they just get along?"
The Corriere della Sera (Milan daily) has a guy on the ground (Davide Frattini) with a sat phone and an SMS app and is relaying events as they happen. Where's the US press (what press, anyway?)
And our troops will go on dying for a vague and probably unattainable goal that the politicians dress up in idealistic flourishes, and worse, dying for a lie
Shades of Diem and Nhu: Viet Nam all over again (we always install a kleptocracy)
He can't even keep tabs on Iraq, which is supposed to be the central platform of the effort. However, as the US clearing intends to stay in Iraq for the next 60 years, maybe things will be different then.
You know, I wrote to Schumer complaining of his insistence in 1996 that Saddam's arsenal of nukes were still to be found. Reply he did, underscoring that they certainly did exist and it would be only a matter of time before they were located! Alas, he's the Senator from Tel Aviv.
Last night on CNN, I saw an ad that bowled me over. You see a US combat veteran saying something like this: Enriched uranium can pierce US armor. Iranians enrich uranium. Therefore the Iranians are killing US soldiers in Iraq. The ad was a veiled appeal to bomb and possibly invade Iran. Now who the hell is paying for that, because it sure felt Likud-sponsored?
Thank you.

Yes and if it goes on sending envoys like Wisner who can't keep their mouths shut.

Apparently Mubarek will address the nation.
Go protestors, Mubarek dégage!
But aren't the death squads the reason why "the Surge" worked?

Gee, and people freak about about Muslim millenarianism when we have the more dangerous Christian ones right here at home.

1. Gee, I rather thought leaving 50,000 troops (a huge presence) in there for another year was footdragging.
"Future US-Iraqi relations will depend on what the Iraqi public thinks of the US"
I'd be tempted to add, what this public is willing to forgive.

Gee, the secret prisons is an old story and I believe it was trotted out against Jafaari. It's old news and, as such, suspect.
