Am I totally naïve? Isn't an Army there to protect the Country's borders and sovereignty? Police, and civil law enforcement infrastructure is what is needed. In my book, if you build a strong military in a weak civil environment, all you get is a "dictature".
I don't agree either that Harper's Canada needed arm twisting.
As I understand it, since the Conservatives are in power, Canada's foreign policy has essentially been aligned to the US's. On every occasion I have seen, Canada's reaction came after America's and was identical.
However, Obama's rapid "dumping" of Mubarak left me thinking this was a way of getting back indirectly at Israel's impudence; at no political cost.
He must actualy feel pretty good about the stress level rise in Netanyahu's discourse.

I see no mention of the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, is it because it is now out of American Foreign policy reach?
