Don't blame the Cruz Missile. Blame those who pressed the trigger and set up the relevant system of privilege - the equivalent in another context of the weapons manufacturers. Former Texan A/G Ted, despite his pedigree,is merely the fall guy.
A democratic way to make the constitution very hard to change, if Australian experience is a guide (and it may not be), is to do so by federal referendum, subject to a double majority.
I would be less critical of Mitt Romney than his foreign policy advisers, who would hold senior positions in his administration. The President's messaging, emphasizing threat power, is equally perhaps too focused on the domestic audience.
What is of note to me is the way in which this meme has caught on throughout the Middle East and North Africa. This has taken trolling, a nasty activity, to new heights. I can't understand people who have to be told of the consequences of their behavior.
Thirdly, these episodes and the intensity of the reaction, even if limited, has the effect, I suspect, of negating the influence that PM Netanyahu and other players wish to exert over American policy and actions.
I prefer "deluded" rather than the pejorative "loser". For example, if you believe the Second Amendment is not now irrelevant and fundamentally as odds with a peaceful democratic society, you are deluded.
Similarly, if you believe that with ready availability, without rigorous controls, automatic weapons, guns in general, and apparently explosive materials, will not get into the hands of people with severe mental problems, you are frighteningly deluded, and may indeed need appropriate medical intervention.
I am curious now NATO has assumed command of the operation for reasons not clear to me, will they now report to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council, or has it ceased to be a UN authorized venture to protect civilians?
The suggestion has been made in relation to the original al Qaeda, who were tortured by the Egyptians that surprise, surprise they became dehumanized to the extent that compassion for their victims had not sway with them. So it might also seem to be the case with the Iraqis tortured by the Americans and their covert allies. Fortunately, as we are constantly led to believe, there is no such thing as cause and effect in the minds of policy makers, so this suggestion would have to be impossible.
The alternative to relying on the interpretations of the news agencies and news reports is to read Ahmadinejad's speech as an almost primary source. Those who walked out on this speech, which amongst other things reasonably called for reform of the UN to do away with the Security Council veto, are simply pathetic. May be the General Assembly should allow parliamentary debates between leaders.
That is a very predictable response Red Possum. What could have been achieved if the money spent on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars had been spent in the US? Still it is a concern and it seems to be the case in Germany, for instance, that there is a disinclination among the general population to support aid for those people affected by the Pakistan floods, although the German Government has doubled its commitment of aid.
From what I hear and understand, the floods in Pakistan and the fires in Russia, are somehow related to, or attributable to, a blockage of the Jetstream, which may or may not be a product of global warming. The problem evidence of "aid fatigue" suggest it may be prudent might be to set up a global fund in anticipation of future extreme weather events that will follow climate change. The EU, at least, is moving in this direction.
Admittedly there were earlier reports of the CIA supporting death squads in various Latin American countries, but it is depressing to learn that the American Army has constituted what in effect are death squads in Afghanistan. The argument that the Allies, as distinct from the Resistance, including the warlords and Taliban, conforms to International Humanitarian Law would appear not to be correct. Afghanistan has turned into a war of terrorism, possibly an inevitable consequence of occupation.

Good reason to oppose these developments if mass murder is the method. This conclusion seems to have escaped the notice of those that should know.
Who knew that there protests outside the US Embassy in Jakarta? (So I am told).

North American "exceptionalism" is alive and kicking across the northern border - the source of the day-trip terrorists - according to this report: http://www.ipolitics.ca/2012/10/31/frances-russell-stephen-harper-and-the-triumph-of-the-corporation-state/

Did you have anyone specifically in mind, Juan? Perhaps John Brennan?
Since military solutions have not worked in Afghanistan, why suggest another? Perhaps the Afghan Army is the problem and not the solution.
Pleased to see Tasmania is showing some independence.
"Cared". How has this come about?
Thanks for the context, Juan. I have read other accounts which were not satisfactory.
Apparently The Audacity of Hope has been declared unseaworthy after sailing across the Atlantic and will have to stay in Athens. Nice irony.
