If you read again you'll see that Mr. Cole said The Islamic State of Iraq believes Egyptian Christians collaborate with American imperialism. He did not make a statement regarding the Egyptian government.
You couldn't have posted on this topic at a better time. I'm literally typing my research paper on US-Egypt relations and their affects on the 2005 and 2010 elections right now. By the way great job with the new layout.
Hahahahaha. Sharia law is battled against in Oklahoma yet this guy uses his Bible in an official hearing. Being a Christian he should well know that there will be an Armageddon. If God isn't going to 'doom' us again until then, then according to HIS rationale, we are at the end of times...
I've only one concern when it comes to investigating the police and the army. These "death squads" are most likely to be operating outside the umbrella of these two institutions and, therefore, have nothing to do with them. If they choose to investigate the army and/or the police, I'm sure they'll find things but nothing that directly links al-Maliki to them. The death squads, which are a separate entity and, as expected, more difficult to find and investigate, are what al-Maliki uses to enforce.

Your rationale is much like the rationale of a Muslim (in regards to understanding the text in the original language).
