is, in fact, the result of a terrifying phenomenon in which the planet's deep oceans are increasingly absorbing the world's excess carbon, offering a false sense of temperature stability when the reality is very much the opposite.
The new study, conducted by U.S. and Australian scientists and presented in the journal Nature Climate Change, shows that unusually powerful trade winds in the Pacific Ocean have contributed to pushing the warmer ocean waters to greater depths, creating an illusion of a warming plateau on the surface.
...Careful with attributing this "hiatus" with increased CO2 uptake by the ocean. This study is concerned with increased *heat* uptake, not CO2 uptake, at least according to the abstract. So, the amount of heat capture by the atmosphere is continuing to increase as before, but an increased fraction of that heat is being anomalously taken up by the ocean. As the study makes clear whenever the trade wind anomaly abates, we'll likely see the heat come back out of the ocean. Also, when the next El Nino occurs, we should also see more heat released from the ocean.
Not to mention that he seems to enjoy riding around on a horse carrying the flag of a government he claims not to exist.
