I'd be interested in a source for Barkley Rosser comment that the rising death rates in middle age whites is confined to women, whereas rates for middle age white men stopped declining. The Case and Deaton paper only present men and women combined, but state:
"The change in all-cause mortality for white non-Hispanics 45–54 is
largely accounted for by an increasing death rate from external
causes, mostly increases in drug and alcohol poisonings and in suicide.
(Patterns are similar for men and women when analyzed separately.)"
I'm surprised that Juan does not challenge the statement that " if we should lose our majority...we cannot remain a Jewish state or a democratic state." Setting aside comparison to neighboring undemocratic states, the current "Jewish state" has many undemocratic qualities. And there is nothing inherent or inescapable about a single state vision that precludes democracy.
Incommensurate realities have been brought to the US landscape by Fox News and other forces. We need micro communication here as well to avoid falling into a similar dystopia
What will it take for the Al shujaiya massacre to break through to the MSM conscience? Bombing the UN school broke a "rule of war," but leveling an entire district and burying untold number of people in rubble is a horrific crime.
Is it really "Jewish consensus on Israel" in the US that has moved so far to the right, or is it the loudest voice? My sense is that typical US Jews are appalled or at least conflicted by Israeli policies, and are cowed just like the open minded rabbis.
This is good insight and analysis. But I do not believe it is the whole explanation, and does not support the headline to not "blame the universities." They are operating as a cartel and decisions are driven by a burgeoning class of self-interested administrators.
I agree with AnOminous Sign that more than a tiny majority reject MLK. It should be noted also that MLK was an activist against poverty and militarism, as well as racism/Jim Crow.

Bacevich is wrong that climate change does not warrant a "let-out-all-the-stops offensive"

Interesting and sad that the writer has abandoned any hope of the US taking a leadership role in ending the occupation.
