" I see the tools emerging now to better critically hold our representatives to task- just using video-editing like it’s done on Jon Stewart is an example of cutting through the amnesia and lying that so define the norm of politics. Crude, simple, effective- I like it." You really should grab a copy of Glen Reynold's "An Army of Davids". What you put forth he fleshes out and shows the dramatic change and impact we as individuals have at our command with the tools made available by the digital age. I urge you to get it.
Bill can't say I agree with all of your post but you are right. Effective gun control is not going to happen and it is to late. Most murders and crimes are Black on Black. Nobody gives a damn until a Newton or a Columbine Or some white suburb gets hit by gun violence. Prior to Newton where was the outcry? fear? Ask a black teenager what it's like going to school on the side of Chicago. Not one gun control proposal would save one life or make any difference to these kids.
"..It’s imperative that we climb out of the hole created by this faux complexity before we’re all sent to our graves by technocrats." If by this you mean doing away 2000 page bills passed by congress which no one reads understands or can forsee what untold consequnces will arise, Ending the delusion that we can understand enough about climate to see the problem let alone the arrogance to think we can control such a worldwide complex system, then I"m with you buddy.
