Egypt is a client state of the United States and Israel, which is actively assisting Israel in keeping Palestinians imprisoned like caged animals with just enough food, water, and shelter to prevent them from dying. So I'm not so sure why this Egyptian governor would ever get this crazy idea into his head that Israel has dumped sharks, or in his words, "beasts of prey," into the Red Sea in order to destroy Egypt's tourist industry. But with Israel trying to expand its predatory reach in the Middle East, I don't blame the Egyptians for being a bit paranoid these days.
Here in America our beasts of prey are the sharks on Wall Street. And we still wouldn't be so worried about them preying on our savings and investment portfolios had Congress and the White House passed a financial reform bill with some teeth to it!
Despite what Tom Friedman says, the global economy isn't playing on a flat and level playing field until top-executive jobs across America are also shipped to low-wage countries. I would find this to be particularly appealing not only because it would enable top executives to get a taste of their own medicine, as they join their underlings in the great global race to the bottom, but it would also enable our corporations to save hundreds of millions of dollars by not having to pay their top executives more than what the global market demands. But this won't happen as long as top executives are in cahoots with their board of directors to keep their wages and benefits uncompetitively high, and as long as shareholders are powerless to do anything about it.
With that said, I still think that it's only a matter of time before the world's largest companies that produce things other than food and bottled water are headquartered in Asia and all of their CEOs are Asian born and live there, forcing American CEOs to join the ranks of the unemployed.
This is patently obvious to anyone whose head isn't in the sand.
Power always follows production, which is the heart of any economy. So when American corporations decided to offshore production to Asia so they could teach their greedy American workers a lesson and vastly overpay their CEOs while vastly underpaying their Asian workers, they dug their own grave and engraved their own tombstone.
I find it rather ironic that Obama says he's trying to create more economic ties with India in order to boost jobs here in the US, while at the same time he is letting American corporations get away with outsourcing jobs to India. But hey, I shouldn't expect anything different from a man whose only claim to fame is being able to get away with doing the opposite of what he says he'll do. And it helps that he is firmly embedded in the back pockets of some the biggest outsourcers of jobs on this side of the pond.
David Lapan, deputy assistant secretary of defense for media operations, told NBC News on Monday that a special assessment team looking over the WikiLeaks Afghanistan war logs has found nothing that could damage national security. Moreover, he said, none of the documents reviewed so far carries a classification level above “secret” — the lowest category of intelligence material in terms of sensitivity.
But National Security Advisor James Jones and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs contradict David Lapan by stating that WikiLeaks'disclosure of a massive trove of classified military records documenting the Afghan War "could put the lives of Americans and our partners at risk, and threaten our national security."
So I don't know if I should believe the Defense Department or the State Department and the White House. But if the Defense Department is speaking the truth, which is probably the case since it has more to lose than either the State department or the White House if the safety of our troops is compromised, then Bradley Manning shouldn't be sent to prison for the rest of his life for leaking so-called classified documents to WikiLeaks. Maybe I'm wrong, but the State Department and the House White seem to care more about protecting the wealth of our war profiteers than they do in protecting the lives of our troops.
Notice that no one from our mainstream press has said that Israeli naval commandos were being criminal for gunning down unarmed aid workers aboard the flotilla. The most negative thing our mainstream press has to say about these commandos is that they were being stupid.
But if evidence emerges that these killings were done premeditatively -- and they probably were given that all of the dead were Turkish nationals, or of Turkish descent -- and if evidence emerges that most of these killings were done execution style -- and they probably were given that most of the dead were shot in the head at close range, then the Israeli commandos weren't merely being criminal, they were acting as cold-blooded killers! But this truth will be never be known because the head honchos of the Israeli government went to great lengths to make certain that all incriminating evidence against their naval commandos, from the planning stages to the actual execution, was thoroughly destroyed.
Kieran Suckling, the Director of The Center for Biological Diversity, seems to think that the buck should stop with Ken Salazar, Obama’s Interior Secretary:
But if Kieran Suckling knew that Obama was fully aware of the fact that Salazar would be an Interior Secretary who’d protect Big Oil over protecting the environment, he’d realize that the buck ultimately stops with Obama, not Salazar. Suckling apparently doesn’t know that Obama is bought and paid for by anything and everything Big on Wall Street — be it Big Finance, Big Military or Big Oil. This is probably why he doesn’t understand that Obama won’t ever fire Ken Salazar, an eco-disaster enabler in his Interior Department, just as he won’t ever fire Tim Geithner, an econ-disaster enabler in his Treasury Department. I must say that between his Treasury, his Interior and his Pentagon, Obama has managed to put together one helluva wrecking crew — something that only a disaster capitalist could love!
Let's hope that these Israeli terrorists don't gain backing from teabagging creationists here in the US; otherwise, A. C. Clarke's fictionalized tale "The Hammer of God" may indeed turn into a piece of nonfiction. But instead of creationist-backed Israeli terrorists sabotaging a scientific mission to destroy an asteroid bound for Earth, claiming that death by this asteroid is God's Will, they'll be sabotaging a secular mission to prevent a full-blown war from erupting in the Middle East, claiming that death by this war is God's Will.
I can kinda see why Israeli Jews would feel an overwhelming need to settle on Palestinian land if the Jewish population in Israel was bursting at the seams, making unoccupied land so scarce throughout Israel that there's no longer enough of it to go around to need meet their needs as a population. But this is far from the case.
The fact is that due to the slowdown in their birthrate coupled with a drop-off in the number of Jews immigrating to Israel, the population of Israeli Jews is in decline. In fact, their population is only growing at about half as fast as the population of Muslim Palestinians.
And from what I've read, though I can't recall exactly where, some Jews in Israel view the high birthrate among the Palestinian population as "a demographic threat" to Jews and their livelihood. Plus I need not remind anyone here that "reducing a demographic threat" is just a polite and politically correct term for "ethnic cleansing." So I shudder to think that Israeli Jews are bombing the hell out of Palestinians and are cutting off vital services to them as a way of reducing them as a demographic threat, which is nothing more than a way of reducing them by ethnic cleansing.

"Completely unacceptable Use of Force"
