But Obama isn't doing anything to reduce inequality. He just talks about it. He says one thing and does another. He complains about Congress not supporting him. He could raise the minimum wage with the stroke of a pen, but he doesn't want to alienate big business, which will support his lavish lifestyle when he retires from the presidency, just like his fellow Democrat, Bill Clinton.
Thank you for the much-needed rebuttal of what the US media is saying about recent events in Fallujah. There is the usual amnesia about what happened there or a recasting of the events to suit the US government's version.
Couldn't it also be that Obama has known all along about this wiretapping of Merkel's phone but was forced by the report to deny this knowledge to avoid harming his relations with Merkel? Didn't Reagan also deny knowledge of what Oliver North was doing in the Iran contra case? I think this is a White House calculation--that there is less harm to the president if he denies knowledge. It makes him look dumb but it shields him from the fallout to some extent.
But if bombing Iran, like bombing Iraq, causes Iran to start developing nuclear weapons, that will surely mean the U.S. will intervene and that is what Israel wants. This could be Israel's plan if you follow the perverse logic laid out in your comment.
I'm one of those who think this is entirely a diversion to take eyes off the NSA. After all, Obama has been able to keep the Republicans at bay on Benghazi. These embassy closings are so the Obama administration can say in a few days that thanks to their monitoring of the terrorists they were able to thwart some terror plots and keep us all safe.
A lot of Egyptians don't get that the military is not their friend, and the country is doomed as long as a significant part of the population appeals to it to govern. The country is too divided to come together and agree the military should stay out of politics. Effective civilian government eludes it.

If Britain had gone along, it would have been bombs away yesterday, Congress be damned.
