No longer having Tony Abbott for creative inspiration, First Dog on the Moon, an Aussie cartoonist, has just taken on the Irving, Texas school system. Maybe he'll go after Trump next.
On the PBS Newshour on Wednesday night, Judy Woodruff opened her segment on the Iran nuclear deal with the AP claim. I wonder if she will make a correction tonight?
In the Reader's Picks category of comments on the New York Times article on Sharon, all of the highest rated reflect opinions similar to those of Prof. Cole and of Robert Fisk of the Independent. Yet US politicians dare not say anything negative about Sharon.
Why should members of Congressional oversight committees be confident that they are being fully informed by the DIA/CIA/NSA/etc in their classified briefings? How could they know whether or not these various agencies are not withholding information about programs and procedures?
If I were in college now, I might consider the intelligence community for a career. What other industry has a revenue stream guaranteed by our politicians' focus with the never-ending war on terror and no real oversight by or reporting to our esteemed elected representatives?
Note that Table 1 shows that of the 27.3 million total population increase between 2000 and 2010, only 2.3 million was from the non-Hispanic/Latino white group.
With apologies to Martin Niemoller:
First Trump came for the Hispanics,
and I did not speak out for I was not Hispanic;
Then Trump came the trade unionists,
and I did not speak out for I was not a trade unionist;
Then Trump came for the Muslims,
and I did not speak out for I was not Muslim;
Then Trump came for me,
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

It was Mitch Daniels, director of the OMB, (subsequently governor of Indiana and now President of Purdue University) who gave the New York Times an estimate of $50 to $60 billion for the cost of the Iraq War. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/12/31/us/threats-responses-cost-white-house-cuts-estimate-cost-war-with-iraq.html?src=pm

Robert Fisk of the Independent says that media claims that Hafez al-Assad used chemical weapons against his own people (and that, therefore, Bashar al-Assad would do the same) are lies. Fisk was in Hama in 1982 and saw no evidence of use of chemical weapons. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/syria-bashar-alassad-and-the-truth-about-chemical-weapons-and-who-may-or-may-not-have-them-8393539.html
