The Israelis participated in the training of "torturists"? I'm shocked, shocked. Could that be one reason that the Iranians have negative feelings toward that Zionist regime continuing to exist? My, my, and here we thought the Zionists just wanted to assassinate diplomats and statesmen and blow up villages and hotels.
My opinion of Eisenhower who was beloved by my parents just took a big hit.
History has shown that the Zionists apparently believe they can murder their way to success. That is reminiscent of a Chicago gangster called "Schemer" Drucci who thought he could become President of the United States merely by assassinating his opponents. That didn't work, either.
Another example of how the veil of denial about the Nakba distorts the dialogue of the conflict in Palestine. Efforts to accelerate the enlightenment and education about the Nakba should be expanded on an ongoing basis during this period of heightened interest and awareness.
The Millennials have basically received little or no information on the Nakba and therefore are not familiar with the root cause of the conflict. The increased awareness of the Nakba through the efforts of activists and organizations throughout the world will appeal to the Millennials' higher regard for humanity.
Unfortunately Israeli school children are not taught about the Nakba as well. Israeli cannot insist on Palestinian recognition of the right of Israeli to exist while failing to recognize the Nakba. It would be interesting to see statistics on how many U.S. school children are taught about the Nakba as well.
These maps were posted on my facebook account by my English son-in-law in Amsterdam as linked from John Pilger's film "The War You Don't See". I posted a comment in which I included a reference & link to an article on the Nakba and a reference & link to Informed Comment. My comment disappeared. I reposted the comment which has now disappeared. I am relatively new to Facebook and while I am relatively tech-savvy I'm quite sure my post was correctly entered. What type of censorship, if any, is present on Facebook?
Thank you for expressing the very similar thoughts I had as well this morning. Even as we celebrate the freedoms we have today we are mindful of our own forms of tyrannies thrust upon us by our own government which threatens our privacy, by such organizations as the NRA who warp and twist the constitution, by economic inequalities which restrict the pursuit of happiness and by the failure of our elected representatives whose own special interest subordinate those of their constituencies.
It was practically nauseating over the weekend to witness the clichéd remarks about honoring service personnel amidst the truths of the swirling VA scandal. Utterly unconscionable hypocrisy.
Since tribalism is global, racism is omnipresent. It seems to appear more intense in the instances of nationality, religion and skin color. But, then, what else is there! Insofar as values are concerned, the preservation of human rights may be the best measure of values against which the behavior of individuals and governments may be made.
I've been wondering what Kerry was thinking when Nutsandcuukoo was telling him that the Zionists had to have the West Bank because that is where Jacob had his dream about the ladder. Probably no archeological evidence of that, either. How tall was that ladder, or stairway, anyway? With all due respect, please.
Meanwhile, the Zionists continue the anti-Muslim illegal occupation of the territories and starvation of Gaza children and the so-called free-to-criticize U.S. Congress of cowards says nothing. The cartoon was right-on. Whether the cartoon was viewed in Iran as anti-hardliner is unknown.
We know what the Zionists' understanding of the Middle East is-theft of all Palestinian land while holding the "negotiations" at an impasse. Destruction of 534 Palestinian villages during the Nakba-that is the Zionists' understanding of the Middle East. I'm curious-was that the former King David hotel where McCain gave his press conference? We are seeing it on more and more buses-"No Tax Dollars to Israel".
One of the reasons offered for an attack on Syria is that the gassing is a violation of international law. Since Syria has signed but not ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court my limited understanding is that Syria is not subject to ICC jurisdiction and could not be prosecuted for war crimes. I'm wondering, however, if there is a mechanism whereby the evidence accumulated by the UN inspectors could be presented to and reviewed by the ICC on an unofficial basis to give an independent opinion of the evidence. This would (a)either prove or disprove Putin's claim that the "rebels" intentionally spread the gas, and (b), if disproved, and the evidence showed that Assad was knowledgeable, if not supportive, of the plan to use gas, place Putin in the position of supporting a war criminal, although unindicted. This might also demonstrate to other nations, either non-signors or 'non-ratifiers" that the rule of law may have some value in the new order, such that it is, or isn't.
I agree-let's disregard the Mel Gibson perceptions and just focus on the facts about the theft of Palestinian land, the disregard of UN resolutions, the obfuscation of the Israeli nuclear weapon program, the suffocation of human rights in Gaza. Where is the outrage from a nation that needlessly pays $3 billion a year to a client state the size of Connecticut that continually shows its ingratitude to its benefactor through endless machinations to disguise its real intent.
Hilarious!

Thank you SCOTUS for enabling the Beltway Brothel.
So we can then take the 10 Commandments from Charleton Heston's cold, dead hands while leaving his musket?
Release by United Methodist Church of letter to Obama calling for change in U. S. Policy on Israel/Palestine. The "hilltop settlement" under the Zion Dome in D.C. also received copies. http://umc-gbcs.org/press-releases/faith-leaders-tell-obama-enough-change-policies-on-israel-palestine

The voices from the children of Gaza will continue to be heard long after this siege is over. http://electronicintifada.net/blogs/amena-saleem/protesters-force-bbc-confront-its-pro-israel-bias
http://mondoweiss.net/2013/10/washington-palestinian-massacre.html A link to repression by Jewish organizations to prevent a play about the Nakba in D. C. last October. The truth about the Nakba is genuinely feared.

The huge brothels under the Capital Dome and in the State Department in D. C. won't permit it.

Time for another revolution!

I thought under Article 12(3) that either a State Party to the Statute OR the Security Council could refer a matter to the ICC.
