Isn't it true that the U.S. was instrumental in a coup that removed Yanukovych from office and replaced him with Poroshenko? And is it true that there were, and perhaps still are, Nazi elements in the Poroshenko government?
And I wonder how "sacred" women felt when Kelly was growing up and they couldn't open bank accounts or get credit cards in their own names. Most landlords wouldn't rent to single women, because they were all considered sluts who would have men in their places. Abortion was illegal, most jobs weren't available for women, and if they had jobs, they made very little money--and their husbands might have controlled it. Sexual harassment was rampant everywhere, and women didn't have many alternatives, because they couldn't afford to quit their jobs--and the situation at the next one might be just as bad. Rape victims were either accused of lying, or "they were asking for it." And the laws actually reflected that. And that hasn't changed enough yet. So, not so "sacred."
I was growing up at the same time, and I know how few rights most women had. And I'd rather have rights and professions and good jobs than be considered "sacred."
My new question, which I print on yellow postcards and send to Congressional leaders:
HOW HOT DOES THE SAND HAVE TO GET BEFORE YOUR PRESIDENT AND HIS REPUBLICAN PALS PULL THEIR HEADS OUT OF IT AND START WORKING TO SAVE THE EARTH FROM GLOBAL WARMING?
As a Life Member of the Word Police, I feel I should tell you that "beg the question" does not mean "invite the question." It is "invite the question" that you should have used.
"Beg the question" means to "plead the question;" in other words it is a form of circular reason in which the question is answered with the question. It is a logical fallacy that fails to prove anything that is not already assumed. Example: "Why can't Bernie Sanders be elected?" "Because he is unelectable."
The raid involved two of those damn deadly Ospreys, one of which failed and had to be destroyed so it didn't fall into AQAP hands. They are such incredible crap that leaving one for them might have been the best outcome of the raid.
I'm afraid that Trump's hateful statements about Islam and Muslims will cause more anger from Daesh and lead to further attacks in the U.S. His predictions could be self-fulfilling prophecies.
We do need alternatives to the Republican and Democratic Parties. But Jill Stein has no government experience and therefore is totally unqualified to be president. Gary Johnson has demonstrated that he is clueless about a lot of essential issues.
Third parties should be fielding candidates in local, state, and congressional elections to build their bases and change laws to make it easier for them to get on ballots. And this is happening, although on a very small scale. It will require a lot more of this before any third- or fourth-party candidate is ready for a presidential campaign.
As a Kansas native, I find this very distressing. I know life in Somalia has been dangerous and tragic for many years, and a job at a beef packing plant can't be easy or pleasant. I'm sorry these Somalis were not given the welcome they deserve. I wish them success in America.
You should know that people end up on those watch lists and no-fly lists for no good reason--including the seven-month-old baby. I think we definitely need fewer guns in the country, but prohibiting gun ownership to people on the watch lists isn't the way to go.
I was part of the movement that eliminated "insane asylums." Patients were institutionalized, often involuntarily and for no good reason, but they didn't receive treatment. I know of one mental hospital in the early 70s that said it practiced "milieu" therapy; in other words, being locked up in a mental hospital was itself therapy.
The plan was that the institutions would be replaced by community mental health centers. That's what rich people didn't want to support with their taxes.

I wonder how "sacred" those #metoo women feel.

And drone pilots are quitting because of the stress of watching bloody effects of their strikes.
And we still can't bring any kind of order in a society as primitive as Afghanistan.
And Daesh is the result of the destruction of Iraq.
Technology is no better than the brains of those deploying it.
If they can shut down those sites, they can do it to yours. This is not the way to oppose hate.
I read that the speech was written by Stephen Miller, the one photographed in the White House making the White Power sign with his hands.
We should remember that it was Saint Obama who began the process of "modernizing" our nuclear weapons.

Didn't the U.S. actually put the first Saudi king on the throne back in the 50s?
If the Israelis think that punishing Washington will stop the president from making "gaffes," they're not as sharp as they're considered.

I don't go to your website looking for comic-book crap.
Great article. I had exactly the same reaction. American Muslims are real people with real lives. Just like other Americans.
