I think one of the most glaring omissions in this article is an analysis (at least I didn't see it) of a number of the wins. Using one of the wins - El Salvador - as an example (Grenada would have worked equally well), where was the comparisons of population, GDP, sovereign wealth, size of armed forces, percentage of armed forces to population, degree of military ordnance and relative technical superiority/inferiority, percentage of GDP spent on "defense" (a misnomer if one ever existed), and, perhaps most importantly, status of combatants in terms of aggressor/"victim". These are just a minute smattering of thoughts that spring to mind.
Also to note: in both WWI and WWII, the U.S. was one of the last combatants to enter the war in both cases - while sitting back and becoming obscenely wealthy at the expense of the real combatants whose nations/economies were being devastated.
To be perfectly frank, when I think of the U.S. and its military ventures, in spite of Hollywood's efforts to the contrary, I think "Cowardly".
