Yes she does have a tough fight, but at least she is trying to do something about these terrible problems in Iraq. The problem is that most of these are society norms in their culture. It is hard for them to change things that they have been doing for hundreds of years. Some things they believe are part of their religion and they think they are doing these things with God's blessings and will. More people need to speak out against these practices and how they impact the women that they are done to. Changing laws would be a start, but I think it is better to educate the people through the schools and the religious leaders. If more people started going against these practices, then others will follow. The extremists groups that are entering these countries and setting up their rule are also part of the problem. They have extreme ideas and many of them are oppressing women.
It is good that Dubai is making a sustainable city, they are setting a good example for the rest of the world. The problem is that these kinds of cities cost a lot of money and most countries cannot afford to do this. Dubai is an oil rich city and many of the people there can afford homes like this. In other parts of the world this would be impossible. What would work even better than setting an example would be to get these products that are used to make these sustainable cities more affordable. If they were cheap enough, more people and countries would build them. One city in the world is great, but it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference unless many other countries follow them. More technology needs to be discovered so these cities can be built for all counties even if there economies are very low.
Climate change is a big issue and if they create this pipeline it will cause even more problems. I understand that America wants to have different sources of energy other than Middle Eastern oil. They will pay a high price for this in their own country. I think it is better that they use oil from other countries than to risk their environment by having oil spills and this pipeline breaking or leaking. The US government doesn't want to tell its people about the negative effects, they only focus on the positive benefits of his pipeline. I guess its all in what you think is important, cheap oil, or your natural environment.
How can moving five million people even be called a plan? That is just nuts if Israel's government thinks that the rest of the world will go along with this plan. Is that the only solution they can come up with? I agree that something has to be done because it is getting worse and worse by the day. This latest incident at the Mosque is just the latest retaliation, it just goes back and forth. I think that the Palestinian people are at the end and they cant take anymore. I am sure they feel that they have no other choice but to fight back or lose their lives living in the Gaza Strip. Someone needs to come up with a suitable plan other than moving all of these people out of the county.
The war on Ebola is very serious and should be taken in a serious way. Even though there have only been three cases of the disease in America, it is better to be cautious. I do agree that news organization are blowing it out of proportion in order to boost their ratings and get more viewers to watch their shows. This practice is not helping because it creates fear instead of educating the population. This disease does have the possibility to get out of control and spread all over the world. The US government seems to be taking the necessary steps to control it by screening at airports and watching cases at the hospitals. They don't want to let this get out of control. Every time there is a new disease that is spreading people go crazy, maybe because of the media. Look at what happened when AIDS first came out, then there was the bird flu, and mer's. Eventually the scientist come up with a way to cure or control these diseases. Hopefully this one doesn't go to far and there will be a cure for those infected.
I agree that these drone strikes that the US are launching do constitute war crimes because they are not using precise targets and hitting innocent civilians. If they were able to target specific people, then they would be alright but that is not the case. More innocent people are getting killed by these drones than terrorists. The US needs to be held accountable for these deaths and change their actions. If they want to go after these terrorists, then they need to find a safer way to do it. If another country was to go into America and launch drone attacks for they believe are terrorists, and then they kill innocent people, you better believe the US would do something about this. They should be held accountable just like any other country would be. I am sure that this will never happen being that they are permanent members of the UN Security Council and fund it heavily. Money buys everything.
The Egyptian army is keeping us safe I can tell you because I live in Egypt and we are much safer now that Sissi took control of the country. Before it was difficult to even travel safely to Cairo or any other parts of the country. These things take time because those militants have been growing in size during the time when Morsi was the president. During this time period many militant groups and extremist groups were let into our country. Egypt has a strong army and many allies in the region to help control this problem. I also believe that it is a good idea to make friends and agreements with the countries that border Egypt. The president seems to be doing a good job at building these relationships. In the future I know our country will continue to be safer and stronger. I hope that you will only hear positive things in the news about Egypt in the future.
I feel that Mahmoud Abbas is right that Israel has committed war crimes and that they should be punished. This isn’t the first time they did this and they keep getting away with what I feel is murder. The United States keeps covering for Israel and lets them do whatever they want without getting punished for it. How can a country go in and destroy so many people’s houses and kill so many women and children without getting punished? They need to be brought to the International Criminal Court and let them decide what should be done, without the interference from America and other Western countries.
It is a crime in my opinion that 1.2 million people have died in coal mines in China. China needs to tighten its laws on coal mining because there are too many people dying there. Countries need to look at different ways to produce energy other than coal. It seems that they take the easy and cheap way out by producing coal instead of looking at other energy sources like wind and wave power or the sun. They don’t care that it costs people’s lives; it seems that their lives aren’t worth much to these governments. People are killing themselves over the quest to find energy from coal mines. Governments especially China, need to change their polices and find new ways to produce energy.
The Holy Aqsa Mosque in the city of Jerusalem should always be open. There is no reason that Israel should close it, even during war times. What gives them the right to close a place of worship off to its people? The people of Israel would surly complain to the world if one of their places of worship was closed off to them by their enemy. It is a sad place in the world when a person of faith and religion can’t even go and pray. There should be international rules that stop governments from preventing people to go and pray in their mosques and churches or wherever they go to pray. A mosque is not a war zone and it should be a place where there is peace and freedom.
