As a Canadian I disavow our sham foreign policy as concocted by Harper and Baird. They bring disgrace to our nation. There actually was a time when we had an honorable and independent foreign policy.
I can only conclude that US presidents are now taking a secret oath of office where they promise to start as many wars as they can, lose as many as they can, kill as many innocents as they can, outrage as many people as they can and piss away as many greenbacks as they can.
By this standard American foreign policy is an outstanding success.
Excuse me but it was Russia that defeated Hitler and paid a huge price in doing so. Hitler's downfall was when he made the mistake attacking of Russia and this broke the back of his military might.
Cheney of course should be in jail and American military spending could be cut in half if it weren't for the fact that Wall Street and the Pentagon run the country. Americans shun socialism while running the greatest corporate welfare state ever.

Unfortunately we have a stone age honorary Republican prime minister here in Canada as he too has been systematically muzzling our scientific community. There is rumor afoot that he is also a charter member of the flat earth society and a creationist.
Also from Naomi Klein's book is the notion that the war on terrorism is not meant to be won as its real purpose is to sustain the security industrial complex and the economy that has grown around it. And of course its original purpose was to instill the culture of fear and create a pretext for global hegemony and continuous warfare.
When the Cold War ended a new pretext for militarism had to, be created and 9/11 was it, and of course it was just pure luck for the neocons that this new Pearl Harbor happened when it did. We simply replace one tyranny with another and the world contiues to go to hell in a hand cart.
I wonder what our good friend Madeleine Albright would have to say on this article.
In 1996,as US Ambassador to the United nations she was asked about the death of these 500,000 Iraqi children. Her reply was,'a very hard choice', but all things considered,'we think the price is worth it'.
