Thanks for the reading list. Any opinion on Robert Fisk's "The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East"?
Keep up the good work.
Maziar's Seminar Syllabus drew some moans and groans about quantity Juan, but your list confirms the quality.
Your short bibliography is a welcome contribution. If few us get to read many serious works, remember that retail hardcover prices are rather steep and typical public library acquisition budgets stretch just to keep up on popular genres. For instance, I cannot get Keddie's work on inter-library loan.
Egypt is the region's most populous country. Is there any comprehensive survey covering the last 50 years?
Is there any reason you specifically recommend the 1991 version of Hourani's work instead of the newer version that was added to after his death (the second edition released in 2002 with an afterward by Malise Ruthven)?
I like to add one more book to your collection:
The Unthinkable Revolution in Iran (Paperback)
by Charles Kurzman
I too was wondering if you had read Robert Fisk's book. I thought it was amazing.
