Since the god of Christianity and Islam and Judaism is the god of history, there's not much chance that they will go away as religions (Fukuyama notwithstanding).
And since their god is the god of history, it is impossible to separate them from politics.
A few years back, biblical scholars voted on the passages of the Gospel, trying to determine what was most likely the original oral tradition of Christianity (most likely the things Jesus may have said). They boiled it down to a lot of difficult questions -- the kind that asking them was likely to get you crucified.
Shorter Old Testament: "History happens!"
Shorter New Testament: "History -- it's not just for nations anymore!"
It had better be 25 years ago, because 20 years ago it wouldn't have been a prediction, but a news report.
Within a couple years of that prediction, science fiction writers, readers, and fans were already using one of the first social media sites, the Science Fiction Roundtable of the Genie Internet service. It was text-based, but Facebook users would recognize the format immediately.
The first Web page was created on Aug. 6, 1991, and the rest, as they say, is history.
When I first heard about this, I went looking through news accounts on the Internet and found what appears to be an account of the plot when it was carried out.
Iraqi military authorities spotted the plane, noticed that it's behavior was unusual, and decided that trying to shoot it down would only provoke the war they were hoping to avoid.
At the time, no one suspected that the flight was the brainchild of the U.S. government.
I don't have the URL to send you to, but I imagine the news accounts are still available.

The West Antarctic Ice Sheet would be a 150-foot rise in sea level. Bye bye Florida ...
