Cook Says Blair Knew Iraqi WMD no Threat

British PM Tony Blair at one point alleged that Iraq could launch a WMD strike on Europe within “45 minutes.” He appears, however, to have known that this charge was simply untrue. Former Foreign Minister Robin Cook alleges that Blair assured him before the Iraq war that Saddam could not easily use his WDM on British troops because he had concealed it well, and assembling the weapons would be difficult. The implication is that Blair knew that Iraq lacked the sort of weapons of mass destruction capability that could be quickly deployed on the battlefield, and therefore must have known that Iraq posed no immediate threat to Europe or the US.

If Blair knew this, surely also the Bush team did?
