Three US soldiers Killed, 3 wounded in Iraq; Mortar at Foreign Ministry

Guerrillas killed one US soldier and wounded another near Ramadi west of Baghdad on Monday. Guerrillas killed two other US soldiers, along with their translator, and wounded several more, at al-Haswa south of Baghdad. At Habaniya, a US helicopter was forced down.

Guerrillas fired a mortar blast at the Foreign Ministry compound in Baghdad on Tuesday. Witnesses spoke of seeing a “ball of fire.” Employees were evacuated from the building, the windows of which were blown out. The explosion left a large hole in the ground, but inflicted no casualties. Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari was in London at the time. The HQ of the Coalition Provisional Authority is near to this site.
