The USG Open Source Center translates an item from the opposition press alleging that the regime turned off cell phone service before Friday prayers in downtown Tehran.

Tehran Tabnak in Persian at 1045 GMT on 17 July reported that mobile telephone lines in the center of the Iranian capital Tehran were blocked on Friday 17 July 2009.

The agency said: “Simultaneous with the start of the Friday prayers, mobile phones in the areas leading to Enqelab Square, Vali-ye Asr, Keshavarz Boulevard, Enqelab Avenue, Jomhuri Avenue, and Ferdowsi Square were blocked.”
