  1. If they make us buy health insurane, what’s next? Maybe they’ll make us buy eyeglasses for poor kids who can’t read the blackboard. And what kind of a country can call itself free if it doesn’t have a few people dying from bad teeth? The price of living in a free society is that you need to keep your distance from sick people who may be contagious.

  2. Scalia is probably licking his chops over the prospect of once more being able to tell liberals to “get over it”.

If certain Justices prefer to toss the whole bill rather than read it, then why should the Administration feel obligated to abide by the decision?

The Republican nomination freak show has damaged the image of the US abroad , and I have to assume this bizarre show of fanatic callousness and cruelty in the healthcare debate is also incomprehensible to the rest of the world.

  3. It’s not just “freedom” that today’s Republican Party is promoting – it’s also freeloading. Don’t buy insurance if you feel it crimps your “freedom” – if you need medical help, check yourself into the ER on someone else’s dime.

    • hey, it’s just a roundabout way of getting to socialized healthcare.

  4. The health insurance markets is like the market for consumables such as broccoli in one way. We can choose to buy or not buy broccoli, but we all must buy food. We’re all going to get old and sick and we’re going to need health care. Unfortunately, it’s too expensive for most people to purchase and people can’t live without it unlike broccoli.

It’s in our individual and collective interest to have health care for all. We buy insurance when we’re young, healthy and working then receive health care when we need it. One positive that may come out of the Supreme Court striking down the ACA is that it may force the Obama administration to make a moral and economic case for Medicare for all and sell it like President Bush sold the Iraq war that nobody except a minority of bloodthirsty right wingers wanted.

  5. to think Obama has done anything other than cave to the Insurance, PHarma and Wall St. Elites is whistling Dixie. lol. the Manchurian Republican Obama is the best Republican candidate running who always caves and offered up Social Security and Medicare to the other Republicans during the last Debt Ceiling/Budget fiasco. Only a Democrat can attack Social Security and Medicare. see the Payroll tax, for a first attack.

it will be interesting to see what Obama does. after the Republicans haved proved that nothing Obama does will survive an organized Republican onslaught, i often wonder why Obama doesn’t stand up to the Republican attack. but maybe being the “victim” is part of the Obama script to do the Republican dirty work. under the guise of “bipartisanship.”

Could this result in Single Payer, like the rest of the “Humane” enlightened 1st world countries have? who knows. but if Obama suggests it, you know the Republicans won’t let it stand, unless you call it Romneycare, lol.

    Politics, American style.
