Mopping up with Muslim Sharia (Colbert Report)

Among all of the obsessions of the Red States, the fixation on the danger of Muslim law (sharia) taking over the United States is the most bizarre. How would that happen, exactly? But the Oklahoma State Legislature actually passed a law forbidding resort to Muslim law. How many Muslims can there even be in Oklahoma. In part, this fear-mongering is using tools from the Cold War, reworked for contemporary purposes, with sharia substituted for the Communist Manifesto. The problem: they aren’t alike.

Steve Colbert has some fun with this hysteria:

Blurb: “Despite Tennessee lawmakers’ best efforts, Sharia law manages to work its way into the state building’s men’s room.”
