  1. Aren’t the celebs some sixty years late? The Palestinian refuge need to go home and their rite of return is enshrined in international and moral law, yet Palestinian are refuge, blockaded and imprisoned in their own land and not peep, let alone a UN petition from the self serving publicity hogs.

    • In this situation, better late than never. At least the British celebs plucked some courage, and are bringing some kind of attention to the plight of these long suffering people. As usual, the Hollywood celebs are predictably silent. Hopefully the rest of the world will start making similar moves. What happened to the Palestinians, and how they suffer today, is one of the most unfortunate mistakes caused by the UN. The Palestinians are the victims of apartheid policies, and military occupation, that has shattered their lives, many displaced, property stolen, homes demolished, and the list goes on. It is time the UN tried to remedy the wrong.

  2. After these celebrities have finished parading across the popular media with their noble concerns about Palestinian refugees in Syria, one would hope they will then turn their attention to Palestine and the most recent UN report ;

    UN’s Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) 2012.

    “Israeli society maintains Jewish and non-Jewish sectors…[including] two systems of education…”

    “Israel reminded of “the prevention, prohibition and eradication of all policies and practices of racial segregation and apartheid” and urged to “prohibit and eradicate any such policies or practices” which violate Article 3 of the Convention (on “racial segregation and apartheid”).

    “A number of discriminatory laws on land issues… disproportionately affect non-Jewish communities.”

    “Discriminatory laws especially targeting Palestinian citizens of Israel”.

    “two groups, who live on the same territory but do not enjoy either equal use of roads and infrastructure or equal access to basic services and water resources.”

    Of course I realise that they won’t get the same wall to wall publicity in the popular media due to vested interests wanting to suppress any bad news about Israel but I’m sure these kind hearted celebrities know all that and won’t let themselves be cowed by those who could wreck their careers!
