  1. 1. If a group of armed black or Muslim protesters occupied an far out of the way building without taking hostages or harming anyone, I think the federal response would be very similar. If these guys had killed a half-dozen people, taken some hostages and were in the middle of a metropolitan area, the Federal response would have been quite different.
    2. I’d like to see a group of black men, or Muslims or gay men take up arms and journey out to Oregon just to see what the response would be.

    • I was editing that previous comment then something happened. Anyway, the travesty of the Tamir Rice killing and all the other murders of unarmed black men by police are completely different from what is going on here. While my first thought on this Oregon standoff was “bring on the air strikes”, I’m glad that cooler heads have prevailed.

OTOH, I’d like to see some action. There is a lot that could be done to make life more difficult for these guys without invading their compound.

  2. While those guys are gone away from home, what about some native Americans occupying their ranches pointing out that it was their land? Seems fair enough.

  3. If they were black or Muslims, the feds would treat them more harshly. But, the left would listen to them with a sympathetic ear. Remember how the global left fell in love with the Zapatistas, the armed indigenous peasants who rose up in 1994? The left is suspicious of the NSA, but they can’t imagine the BLM doing anything wrong. I guess if the rebels are white, rural men wearing cowboy hats, the only response needed is ridicule.

  4. Lets hope this question is never answered in real life. The biggest danger I see is copy cat actions in the future. You can’t play with fire and not get burned. Eventually someone is going to die because of this.
