  1. I don’t understand why this is not commonplace everywhere in the Mediterranean. Santorini ships in nearly all its freshwater and no consideration is given to local desalination. I asked a Maltese about this potential windfall and he hemmed and hawed about lack of land and aesthetics.
    And why is it not possible to reforest the northern coasts with such a basic supply of fresh water to replace what was there historically?
