  • Tampa Area Republicans terrified of Tea Party, Ryan (Guzzo)

This article gets it wrong. Freedomworks is funded by big money interests and have effectively co-opted the Tea Party movement. They have channeled millions to local tea bager organizers (i.e.bribes). The big funders' deal with the tea party is, as long as you support Wall Street give a ways, you can do your crazy stuff. The big money boys will fund the tea party candidates for Senate and Congress. Witness the tea partiers failure to uproot the (anti) Patriot Act, voting for NDAA, various security state surveillance laws, etc.while constantly bleating about the govt suppressing Constitutional rights.

It probably was a bluff and should have been called. If Sharon would have nuked Iran - it would not be America's responsibility but the blowback would fall on Israel like a ton of bricks. It would bring world opprobrium upon Israel - including from a large percentage of American Jews. If Israel nukes any nation without first facing a clear and immediate existential threat - that would probably be the ultimate end of Israel as a Jewish nation.

Isn't that the point? Of course the US doesn't maintain 100's of foreign bases out of altruism. The bases are for the protection of the Empire. Since WWII, the US has wasted Trillions maintaining the Empire while exporting our industrial base to China and hollowing out our national economy. Unfortunately immensely powerful special interests have profited handsomely and will protect to the (our) death to keep it alive.

"Ron Paul wants to do things like get out of South Korea and slash foreign aid, leaving long-time US allies vulnerable and defenseless."

      Prof. Cole:

You are off the rails on this one. S. Korea enjoys one of the wealthiest economies in the world. North Korea is one of the poorest. It possesses a large, modern arm, navy, air force. Its population of S. Korea is approx. 50 million, N. Korea 25 million. Why should the US be subsidizing South Korea's defense after 60 years? The US can either be a Empire or a prosperous nation. It can't be both.

      Juan:

A suicide ass bomber cannot be detected via body scan or pat down. Since the Saudi Arabia suicide bomber attack proves this method is effective - what is the point of the TSA's methods? Are anal / vaginal probes next for the flying public?

I think your rather casual write off of flying as a sustainable enterprise is not supported by reality. The nation / world economy is absolutely dependent on massive air travel - shipping. You can bet that regardless of the carbon footprint or the cost of fuel air travel and shipping will be with us for a very long time.

      Thanks
      Frederick
