Omar Khayyam (50)

You’ve seen the world,
and all you’ve seen is nothing;
and everything, as well,
that you have said and heard
is nothing.
You’ve sprinted everywhere
between here and the horizon;
it is nothing.
And all the possessions
you’ve treasured up at home
are nothing.

  1. He was the proto-Fug! Who knew?

    “Monday, nothing
    Tuesday, nothing
    Wednesday and Thursday, nothing
    Friday for a change a little more nothing
    Nothing, nothing, nothing.”

  2. Khayyam is surely right about treasured possessions, but we’d have to talk about whether all the things I’ve seen and heard are nothing.
