DARVESH, DARWISH درويش
A Persian word for a religious mendicant. A dervish. It is derived from the word dar “a door” , Lit one who goes from door to door. Amongst religious Muslims, the darvesh is called a faqir, which is the word generally used for religious mendicant orders in Arabic books.
