David Vine

David Vine is a political anthropologist and writer. David is the author of a trilogy of books about war and peace including "The United States of War: A Global History of America’s Endless Conflicts, from Columbus to the Islamic State," which was a finalist for the 2021 Los Angeles Times Book Prize in History. The other books are "Island of Shame: The Secret History of the U.S. Military Base on Diego Garcia" and "Base Nation: How U.S. Military Bases Abroad Harm America and the World." David was a professor of anthropology at American University in Washington, DC, for 18 years (2006-2024), achieving the rank of full professor in 2018.
