Western Media. Have you ever read Turkish media? Or is "Western media" your default blame object?
Turks are Sunnis. The "rebels" are Sunnis.
Russians are backing Alawites who are fighting Sunnis. Russians have been friendly with PYD who are at least ethnically allied with PKK.
I'm sure you can figure that out.
2011 was the last good year for Turkey's rise. GDP rose 2.1% in 2012.
The coup is not the problem, the problems are much deeper: poor educational system, large industries are low-tech (construction favored as Erdogan's inner circle of corrupt partners), ease of doing business is low, most FDI is hot money. These problems and Erdogan's thorough lack of comprehension of economic theory are the threats, not the coup.

Do you read any Tuirkish news, I wonder, or just the words of Hocaefendi? Read any Sik and Sener? Avci? Talked to Turks outside the circle?
