The Vermont senator said that he would send comments to AIPAC on Monday and requested that the organization present them to the summit.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will not attend the AIPAC conference next week, becoming the only presidential candidate across the board to fail to address the pro-Israel summit.

The most progressive candidate announced in a letter on Friday to AIPAC chief Robert Cohen that he would be unable to attend the conference in Washington.

“I would very much have enjoyed speaking at the AIPAC conference. Obviously, issues impacting Israel and the Middle East are of the utmost importance to me, to our country and to the world,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, I am going to be traveling throughout the West and the campaign schedule that we have prevents me from attending.”

The Vermont senator said that he would send comments to AIPAC on Monday and requested that the organization present them to the summit.

Main rival Hillary Clinton, plus Republican candidates Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Donald Trump will make speeches at the conference.

Sanders is the only Jewish runner in the race for the White House, and would be the first Jewish president if elected.
