"It's Hell in Here"
"They are Bombing 1.5 million People in a Cage"

CBS News broadcasts an interview with a Norwegian physician on the scene in Gaza.

He says he has seen one military casualty come into the hospital. Of 2500 wounded, 50% are women and children. Doing surgery around the clock. There are injuries you do not want to see-- children coming in with open abdomens, with injured legs, we had to amputate both of them. This is a war on the civilian population of Gaza. It is a very young population. They cannot flee. They are fenced in. They are bombing one and a half million people in a cage.

Please write CBS News and thank them for their journalistic integrity in running this piece.

Casualty toll in Gaza as of Monday morning from the Mizan Center for Human Rights.

Apparently the Israeli military trained on this online video game.

Also please write your representative and senator, send this link, and demand that the US intervene diplomatically to stop this atrocity.

This is an assymetric infowar, waged for the strategic center, US public opinion.

I don't expect my church-going relatives to ask themselves how much Jesus would borrow from our children to pay for the bombardment of a captive population that is 3/4 under age or female.

But a miracle could happen.

How many dead is enough? How many is too many?
What is the human price? I challenge any American Congressman to put a price tag on what Israel is doing in numbers of human lives. How many is enough? How many is too many? And for what? What is being achieved? Anything?

Israel's Cruel Robocalls

The New York Times reported Palestinians received Israeli military calls and dropped leaflets. Some suggest they evacuate their high rise home, but to where? Gaza is under siege. How are innocents to know which parts are safe, i.e. not targeted by Israel?

More twisted psy ops, instructing the frightened to do something virtually impossible. If people had a way to leave, tens of thousands would've done so by now. Christiane Amanpour said this war was unusual. It lacked the streams of innocents fleeing the war zone.

Ten days of carnage and President Elect Barack Obama remains silent....

Juan I have seen the news in 3 languages today. They all say that this would never happen if the US had not enabled Israel by blocking the U.S. resolution twice already.
We need the make J Street a stronger organization. I have been asked by them to become an ambassador and I think I will do it.

By Feb. the 10th, moderate Israeli must speak up and make a different choice than USA 2004.

The strategic objectives of the government of Israel have not changed in the sixty years since the partition of Palestine. To Wit: The State of Israel will take any action that is necessary to, in the words of Theodore Herzl, “drive the penniless Arabs from the land”; Create conditions on the ground that engender “transfer” (forced immigration of indigenous Palestinian Arabs to other states such as Jordan) and the creation of the land of(eretz) Israel that includes ALL of Palestine. We must stop ignoring this fundamental reality. My only confusion is why the USA continues to finance, in large measure, Israel’s ability to carry out this immoral strategy.

Sent to my CA Senators and Representative (after writing CBS news):
Dear Senator/Representative;

I am writing you to speak out against the war crimes that are occurring in the Gaza occupied strip and use your influence in the Jewish community to end this travesty described as 'self-defense'.

I know your sympathies are with Israel BUT the actions taken by the Israeli government in this instance are excremental.

As the Norwegian physician assisting at a hospital in Gaza states "This is a war on the civilian population of Gaza. It is a very young population.

They cannot flee. They are fenced in. They are bombing one and a half million people in a cage."

CBS News thought enough of this firsthand report to show it on the news;
you can view the entire interview here:
http://www.juancole.com/2009/01/its-hell-in-here-they-are-bombing-15.html

ALL the Israeli actions do is put the U.S. at more risk of terrorism attacks and provide prime recruiting for those who would propagate terroristic
thoughts and actions. Is that what we require of an 'ally' ?

Stop the atrocities !! AND the lack of 'even-handedness' in addressing the issue of Palestine/Israel.

Sincerely,
B

What has been lost in the mainstream media (or recreated as per the reality sought by neocons/Israel) is that Israel broke the truce before it even started. The border closures continued, 20+ Palestinians were killed in the six-month "truce," and many more injured.

But listening to the media now (now that there is a war and some more media interest), one could easily surmise that Hamas broke the ceasefire by firing rockets (despite the fact that there were no Israeli deaths during the truce). In fact, many people mistakenly believe that there WERE Israeli deaths during the truce...is this deliberate?

Nice to see CBS doing something right...sure can't expect something like this from the Disney Channel (I mean ABC).

Following is my letter to CBS management

Hello,

These days, Israel is prosecuting its war against Gaza. US mainstream media is biased in Israel's favour. Anyone who dares to criticizes Israel pays a very heavy price in terms of business or personal reputation. There is an atmosphere of intimidation against any such attempt.

I just listened the account of a Norwegian doctor, Mads Gilbert, working in a Gaza hospital on your website. His first-hand account was very impartial, and in an honest way critical of Israel. He says that majority of victims are civilians, most of them children and women. "Israel is bombing 1.5 million civilians in a cage".

It is indeed courageous of you to have broadcast it. I salute your courage, and thank you for your journalistic integrity.

I am going to subscribe to your service on my TV. I am also going to get my relatives and friends and parents to get your service.

Kindly accept heart-felt grattitude from my family and friends too. Please convey my admiration and regards to Dr Gilbert too.

I am frankly stunned one of the MSM channels in the US had the interview with the Norwegian doctor - the first few days, the perspective was so skewed I had to turn off the volume to keep from hearing the talking points of the IDF out of the mouth of every American anchor.

I am also ashamed that our elected representatives are 100% behind Israel and seem to have left their conscience at the door - I would like to e-mail my elected representatives, but the statements they already put out on their websites make it clear they are in full support of Israel and they plan to continue this support. It makes me sick to watch this invasion on TV and even sicker to read that everyday Israelis sit outside near the CNN correspondents and take pleasure in watching Gaza burn.

But folks, remember: when the fleeing refugees try to leave the cage, they are turned back by Egyptians armed with machine guns.

So Egypt is complicit in this. The entire Arabic world has been complicit in this, for decades.

Nobody should be surprized by this war. Horrified, outraged, depressed, yes, but not surprized. This war was scheduled months in advance, and both sides wanted it. All the horror you see is exactly according to both Hamas's and the IDF's stated plans.

The results are also pre-programmed: Israel will get a meaningless military victory, Hamas will get a meaningless propaganda victory, and Fatah will stay out of the mess, and thus get a real victory.
