The largest tank battle in history occurred during the battle of Kursk in July 1943. The battle raged over two weeks and involved about 8000 tanks. In one day at the village of Prokhorovka (inside the Kursk salient) a battle occurred with about 1200 tanks on both sides.

Edward writes : "Russian presence was not under any kind of challenge. By annexing the Crimea he has antagonized most of the world. "

Actually it was. The new Ukrainian coup regime announced they wanted to invite in NATO. If Ukraine had become a member of NATO and Ukraine then decided to ask the Russians to leave Sevatopol, then if the Russians responded it would be war against NATO and the US. Putin did us a favor and took care of business before it became a confrontation between the US and Russia.

"Most Ashkenazi women do not have the haplotypes or genetic pattern in their mitochondrial DNA that marks people as being from the ancient Levant (the haplotype is common to Jewish men and Lebanese and Palestinians. )"

Ugh, you butchered the genetics in this sentence. Ashkenazi men and woman have the same mitochondrial haplotypes. In fact most men have the same mitochondrial sequence as their mothers.

I have to say that my instincts are to support these people that reject both a military dictatorship and Islamic fundamentalist. So we now have three forces. Political arithmatic tells me that two competing opposition movements facing off against a fascist run government will lose if they do not figure how to align.
