Out beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there. –Rumi
Like the rest of the world, I got up on Friday morning June 13 to hear the shocking news. It was truly Friday the 13th. When asked sometimes before where I am originally from, I used to tell people jokingly that I come from the country that will be the next to be attacked by Israel; I said it jokingly, yet I always feared what I said. I was wrong. Many analysts were wrong.
For over 20 years, Benjamin Netanyahu or as they call him Netanayabu (yabu means a packhorse in Persian) went before the U.N. national assembly to tell the world or lie to the world that in a few months Iran will acquire nuclear weapons. Like everything else he and his like have uttered in the past many years, such as the existence of WMD’s in Iraq which led to the invasion of that country, he had lied.
He is the Goebbels of the Middle East.
He was never interested nor serious in a two-state solution nor a peaceful engagement with the Palestinians. For years, he asked Qatar to fund Hamas, yet he claimed that Iran was the only one which funded Hamas. Iran may have been involved in many unsavory acts but the current unprovoked attack on Iran has nothing to do with Hamas. His enmity goes beyond any logic.
In a recent interview on Fox, Netanyahu said we will not allow any Muslim nation including Pakistan to have nuclear weapons! Well too late for that: Pakistan already has nuclear weapons.
How many nuclear weapons does Israel have? Three hundred? Within seconds, Iran can be wiped off the map if Israel chooses.
Why now? Why was Iran attacked now? Here are some of the reasons:
To derail the ongoing negotiations.
To boost his own popularity at home
To avoid criminal court cases.
To face the fact that he failed his people during the Oct 7 attacks.
To take the news off Gaza and bring Iran into the limelight
To stop daily demonstrations in Israel when people are scared to go out while an ongoing war is in place.
And let’s not forget that a week ago, his whole government was being shunned by few important western allies. Today, even French President Emmanuel Macron says Israel has the right to defend itself.
The Islamic Republic has its own internal issues. It is not free of guilt. It has not accomplished what it promised in the last 45 years. Years of corruption, mismanagement, self-inflicted isolation have led people to despise this theocracy. The sanctions have led to economic malaise for most Iranians. A highly educated young population wants more. A regime which has tried to control every aspect of life since its inception has used imprisonment, torture and execution as methods of suppression.
But almost no Iranian wants their country to be attacked to see change. They may have been jolly the first two days when some of the high-ranking commanders were assassinated. But no people should be content that another regime, another outside force can come into their country and assassinate people right and left which Israel has been engaged in for several years throughout the Middle East. Some of Iran’s nuclear scientists were targeted and killed.
Are we living the laws of jungle?
The law of jungle is the one upheld by the Israeli government.
Years ago, I was in a hotel room flipping channels on TV on a Sunday. I came across several evangelical channels in which most of the well-coiffed pastors, utterly corrupt, having amassed wealth from ordinary naïve American believers said that Iran is the devil, that Iran should be crushed. Flags of Israel are hung alongside the American flag on many of these huge evangelical buildings in Texas and elsewhere.
They do not preach the teachings of Jesus Christ, but their sermons are full of hatred for the “enemy.”
Most of them do not even know where Iran is on the map.
Almost the entire U.S. Congress and Senate sings the chorus of the Israeli lobby. They are well paid and groomed. They accept the lies at face value. As of two weeks ago, the once banned extremist, Itamar Ben Gvir was seen walking the hallways of the U.S. Congress, shouting obscenities at a few people.
Once arrested and accused of terrorism and inciting hate by the Israeli justice system, he is now the minister of security.
Israel has had Carte Blanche from all Western powers mostly the U.S. Anything goes and Israel is immune.
Israel is now the master of the Middle East.
When I tell people that Iran’s Jewish community has a representative in parliament, no one believes it.

Iranians in general are not antisemitic. most are not even anti-Israel, yet no human being can watch dispassionately the almost 2 years of genocidal war against the people of Gaza, of women- old and young, of young children, of babies being torn to pieces by areal bombardments and shrapnel, many burned alive in their tents.
There is a different holocaust taking place in Gaza.
My friends and some family members are now terrified of what is next. Will Tehran, according to the defense Minister of Israel, be burned? Is another endless war what promised to the Israeli people? Or is it the long-time desire of the lunatic Bibi to go on with his vengeance?
Bibi claims to want to save the Iranian people. He wants to liberate them. And he is hoping to bring the deposed Shah’s son back. Wishful thinking. Most comments and Facebook entries have challenged the so-called crown prince. First, he no longer holds the crown. Remember there was a Revolution! Reza Pahlavi, especially after his recent comments regarding the attacks on Iran, has no credibility.
Iranians do not forget that once, some seventy years ago, Reza Pahlavi’s father was brought back with a CIA-MI6 backed military coup. It is highly unlikely that the junior will come to power by a regime change via Israel. There are many more competent figures inside Iran. He is an outsider.
It is time, for the man sitting in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to confront this latest unholy maneuver by Netanyahu especially if he wants to get the Nobel Peace Prize! Show some guts Mr. President. You rule the most powerful country in the world, not Bibi. Iranians will not allow their culture; their heritage and their country be destroyed by the likes of a PM who is disliked by his own nation. Tehran will not surrender. It did not under Saddam nor will it under an Israeli attack.
