A very recent Video showing a very succinct discussion between Sean Stone, a film maker and Wayne Madsen a former NSA contractor , more or less sums up the overall reason, logic, and background of whys & Hows of the War narratives of which the poor naive people of the US have fallen a pray to! Please see here, a little long but very informed: https://youtu.be/MN4p9rSfGVs
I think the US President is leaving behind a very dubious legacy of supporting an inherently illegal, obscurantist, inhuman and medieval policy of supporting an occupier of a large swathe of population in this time and age. Does this reflect favorably on Mr Obama or the American Nation? The Reader be the judge!
The death of 10 Turkish civilian activists at the hands of the Israeli Military was absolutely unnecessary & uncalled for, but hopefully all these goings on will bring attention to another hapless community- the Palestinians whose houses are regularly razed, their lands & farms occupied, and large chunks of population live in their own land as prisoners, thanks to religious bigotry of the Zionists. In general, I would more or less agree with what Mr Cagri Tanyol has written above, Politics & Statecraft worldwide, and human behavior in the Middle East and elsewhere has stooped to its lowest level possible, the lesser said, the better!
Dear Professor,
The letter signed under the President's name appears obviously to have been drafted & sent by the White House Staff. I sincerely wish the US president to free himself from the clutches of the existing staff who like in any other office , become prisoners of their past cliches & lines, and do some out of box thinking (of course, let me tell you for a second I would not want to be in his shoes, with crises after crises). Cool, you have stopped the Nuclear Arsenal of Iran who never had it in the first place nor intended to have one. What about Russia? They have hundreds of Nukes, perhaps trained on the US. Mr Putin has bent over backwards to accommodate the US, Can the US not give a thought to their genuine Defense needs of their Black Sea Fleets? Crimea & Ukraine are Russia's backyards, they have every right to be concerned with what goes on there. Help them and help Mr Putin! The arrogance born out of stupidity of the likes of Dick Cheney and ... Sarah Palin recommending to nuke Russia helps none, except expedite the sad demise of a great country!
The Brits were dead against freedom to India,Juan, particularly Churchill is on record saying he did not become Prime Minister to liquidate Her Majesty's Empire, but Brits were bankrupt after the second World War and nothing could help them to hold on to India. You are absolutly right in your analysis. Juan your analysis on Hagel's confirmation is mind blowing. Rgds
Hi Brilliant Professor,
I think one thing you perhaps missed out is the way Drug Industry & the Medical Care Industry works,Operates and prices itself. The pricing needs to be looked into, perhaps by a senate committee. The generic drugs which cure a lot of people cost, may be 1% or 2% of the patented formulations. Once a Drug Company has received enough compensation for their efforts & development cost they ought to be available to a large cross section of people without eye gouging prices. Just a thought! Karzai’s words are neither empty rhetoric, nor the ranting of an imnalanced person, notwithstanding the fact that he was picked up from obscurity & installed to fulfil American agenda. Which third world country in the World would accept, say, like 3.3 Million refugees with grace which Pakistan did from Afghanistan, (Iran took in 1 Million). In 2011, there are still 1.7 Million Afghan Nationals in Pakistan. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghan_refugees)
The Afghans were bombed to smithereens, just for one fault of theirs. They did not hand over a guest to the Americans- The Bin Laden. This is Pathan culture & character. A “Mehmaan” is a “Mehmaan” is a “Mehmaan”. Period.
These Afghan refugees in Pakistan, incidently are now integrated into Pakistan’s civilian life. They live, bring up their families, earn their livelihood, marry, work, and what not.
So what does one expect Karzai, or for that matter, any Afghan to say?
Without the perpetual bombings and drone attacks, a large number of US soldiers who return from Iraq suffer from mental illnesses. The Afghan people who have been in a living hell for 30/40 years, created by the Americans, if they are even able to act and speak coherently and normally, is a tribute to their tenacity and hardiness.
